After watching the new #JohnCandy documentary on #Netflix #ILikeMe, I wondered if he might want to chat with Jennifer Shaffer on our podcast. Jennifer had not see the doc, but I had met a number of folks in the documentary (highly recommend, Colin Hanks did a great job) - but because Jennifer didn't know the doc, I asked him for messages to his pals by their first names only. #stevemartin #MaryShort #BillMurray #CatherineOhara, #EugeneLevy and others. Again - first names only. so its uncanny how John had hilarious things to say to his friends, mocking #TomHanks, #danaykroyd - messages for his family and friends. Jennifer works with law enforcement daily, we've been doing this together for over ten years. Not much surprises me, but this is a fun adventure into the flipside.

Here's my latest promo for the book SHE WAS NEVER LOST: The Amelia Earhart Saga.  At the end is footage of a hangar at Aslito airfield on Saipan. This footage appeared on my YouTube feed, so I watched it. I realized it was taken June 18th, 1944, THE DAY BEFORE US Marine EJ Nabers said he "decoded the message "we have found Amelia Earhart's airplane on Aslito airfield."  

I'd seen the footage before, but this time I watched it with fresh eyes.  There's an intact hangar with three planes inside. Two Japanese zeros and a third plane under camouflage. The two Zeros are facing outward - 10 feet high, 39 foot wingspan, 38 foot length - they both fit the hangar. But the third plane didn't so it is turned sideways facing the wall.  The Electra was also 10 feet high, also had a 39 foot wingspan, but was 55 feet long. 

(There's a typo in the promo  where I mixed up length and wingspan on the Electra. It's 55 feet long)

Whatever aircraft this is, it's too big to face the same way as the Zeros.  This footage was taken before they announced "finding her plane." (Nabers was ordered to guard the plane for 24 hours and many GI's corroborated his story - seeing him there - seeing the electra in this hangar. Later Nabers decoded a message saying they were going to fly it where multiple witnesses saw it, then decoded the message they were going to destroy it, which Nabers and others corroborate what he said)  

So without further ado - here's the promo for the book, but it also includes footage of this mystery plane at the end.  I've put in calls to my NTSB pals to see if they agree or disagree.  But ... we'll ask Amelia on the flipside if this is accurate. And it was the exact same outfit he always changes into. The woman was startled to hear that's all he's got in his wardrobe.  It's mind bending footage - but the past 15 years of filming people seeing him, hearing him say "the Bible is metaphor" "all religions point to the same garden" and "you don't have to follow me but let me walk beside you as we walk each other home."  The book is available in print, kindle and audible.  The excerpt in this promo is from the summary of the book.  He's available.  He repeated that during the interview; "I'm here. This book is recorded conversations (on film, via skype, zoom) with people who spontaneously claim to be “seeing” “hearing” or otherwise getting information from someone they identify as Jesus. Some claim to have “seen him before” “never seen him before” or “they don’t believe in him” but are somehow accessing him. People who report being disturbed by him “showing up” burst into tears, can’t breathe, or in some cases are “dumbstruck” (literally can’t speak) by seeing, hearing someone not there - while not under hypnosis or any imaginable consciousness altered reason.

But the consistency of content is what drew me to the reports.

People who’ve never considered his story, people who had a firm belief in what they thought was his story - reporting (consistently) an “alternate version of events.” People who “used to believe in religion” but no longer do, people who go to church weekly who claim to be startled at hearing something different than they’ve been told (“I always felt this to be the case, but I’ve never heard it before”). His story doesn’t change, but the people who tell it do.

That’s why it’s a story that has never been told.

I’m a writer/director of theatrical motion pictures. I’ve written and/or directed eight feature films, including “Limit Up” and “You Can’t Hurry Love.” I’ve written 10 “best-selling books” (kindle in their genre) about the research of what people say under hypnosis about the afterlife, and recently books with the help of a medium talking directly to folks I knew no longer on the planet, (“Backstage Pass to the Flipside” 1, 2 and 3 with Jennifer Shaffer). I’ve written miniseries for HBO (“The De Medicis” – unproduced) and other film companies. I’ve written scripts for major film studios (including David Kirkpatrick, our trusty foreword fellow) worked on the feature films of Robert Towne (“Personal Best”) and Phillip Noyce (“Salt.”) It’s not like I’m seeking this line of investigation… it literally fell into my lap.

While filming people under hypnosis or not under hypnosis, “seeing” or “hearing” from Jesus started to become more frequent in the footage. At first it was disconcerting. People not under hypnosis saying “I’m seeing Jesus. I don’t know why I’m seeing him because I don’t believe in him!” Eventually I took the leap; “Well, can we ask him a question?”

To my chagrin the answers “he gave” weaved a different story of his life. A story that had echoes of “The Life of St. Issa” as well as other tales of his “survival” from the crucifixion. These consistent yet contrary stories challenged my conception of who he was, challenged my ideas of what consciousness might be, and basically challenge my existence in more ways than one. I published a number of those interviews in “Hacking the Afterlife” but recently while writing “Architecture of the Afterlife” I’ve had more people claim he was “showing up.” And the more he showed up, the more stories he told about his path and journey that mirrored the previous ones. And finally, the author, former studio exec David Kirkpatrick suggested “letting him speak.”

Needless to say, there’s no way to prove they are his words or it’s him speaking. However, what he says is consistent, what he says is contrary to the mythology of him. Allow me to say that again; every time he shows up, he recounts the same contrary story about his life, which is an alternate version of the “Greatest Story Ever Told.” When asked why he was interested in "telling an alternate version of his life" he's reportedly said on more than one occasion: "It's not alternate if it's true." In this book you’ll hear a linear story about the alpha and omega as told by him and those who reportedly knew him.

I've been reluctant to share this story for years; I offer these pages to help people make a DIRECT connection with him. He's not gone; he's just not here. I encourage everyone to ask him on their own.
