March 23-26, 2023

It is our pleasure to invite you to join us in Tibet House US’ 2023 online conference and practice retreat, The Art of Dying and Living. This conference is a new incarnation of a powerfully transformative series of events we launched with the New York Open Center 20+ years ago, which introduced thousands to the profound exploration of the realities of death and dying as the doorway to living ever more vibrantly in the precious moments of life. Last year over a thousand people joined us for this interactive online conference, and we anticipate even greater turnout this year.

In these turbulent times, when we are all confronted by social violence, an epidemic of suicides, overdoses, war, famine, immigrants falling by the wayside fleeing unlivable countries, and the ever increasing series of natural disasters, it is highly fortunate to draw on worldwide wisdom cultures to learn more about death and dying with a view to enhancing our living and thriving and reaching out to others facing loss of life, loss of loved ones, and the sheer scale of planetaary dangers.

Over these four days online together, you will hear from the following leading speakers: Grandmother Maria Alice Campos, Deepak Chopra, Terri Daniel, Henry Fersko-Weiss, Matthew Fox, Joan Halifax, Andrew Holecek, Richard Martini, BJ Miller, Frank Ostaseski, Paulo Roberto Silva e Souza, Therese Schroeder-Sheker, Robert Thurman, and Alberto Villoldo. These renowned presenters will share visions and teachings and lead practices drawn from spiritual wisdom, scientific insight, and time-tested experiential methods of dealing with death and dying that immeasurably enrich the lives of those facing death, as well as those facing bereavement.

We will explore ancient and modern understandings of the art of dying and living through the lenses of different spiritual traditions, including Tibetan and Zen Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Judaic, and Shamanic. Study the nature of death as part of life. Teachings and practices will be woven throughout the conference to help us contemplate our own life and death more fully. Experts from the field of care giving and bereavement will bring support to those who are caring for those at the end of life or grieving for a loved one.

We will explore the relevance of psychedelics to our understanding of death and dying as well as rituals at the time of death and immediately after death, including sky burial, green burial, and cremation. We will learn about different modalities now increasingly being employed to improve the experience of dying, from meditation and bardo yogas to sound healing and the sacred use of psychedelics, and we will even discuss highly controversial topics such as euthanasia and the recent Tibetan tradition of body-immolation.

Interview with Christopher Plummer and Heath Ledger Hacking The Afterlife via Jennifer Shaffer

This is our 8th anniversary of doing our sessions together, and the second anniversary of our podcast. Jennifer and I met 8 years ago, and have been filming our conversations with the flipside weekly.

Portions of the film Hacking the Afterlife has some of our sessions, our books include BACKSTAGE PASS TO THE FLIPSIDE 1, 2 and 3, and TUNING INTO THE AFTERLIFE.

The most recent book is demonstrating how meditation can allow access to the flipside; divinecouncils.com

In this podcast, we asked our moderator on the flipside Luana Anders who wanted to chat with us, and she introduced Christopher Plummer.  An actor's actor, Christopher left the stage in 2021, his most recent turn was in Knives Out.

I didn't know much about him prior to the podcast, but used the internet in real time to see that he was survived by his daughter and wife of 50 years.  In Christopher's words, he was "sucked in" to visit our class, where Luana Anders is the moderator. Luana worked in over 300 films and TV shows, and knows many actors the Christopher knows.

My own connection was through the film director Robert Wise. So I asked him some questions about Robert and was surprised to hear the answers. He said that primarily the reason he wanted to come forward today was to remind people that their loved ones are never far away, that it's always difficult during the holiday season, and he wanted to remind people that they are never far away.

Then Heath Ledger came forward, and we had a lively chat with him.  I had not met him, but know people who knew him, and he's as charming and funny on the flipside as he was in life.  He too wanted to mention how proud he is of his family, those loved ones who know that he still exists and converse with him.

He gave a shout out to my friend Phillip Noyce, as they had planned to make a film together "Dirt Music."  I was aware that they had worked on a project together, apparently it was Heath's death that ended that possibility.

Our loved ones are not gone.

They're just not here.

Not far away - are available.

Take the time to learn how to chat with them.

Hypnotherapy, meditation or mediumship are three methods that I've been filming for over ten years.  This is like having a cell phone to the flipside, and it's thrilling to see Jennifer doing the kind of work she can do.

Happy holidays.

Just wanted to add this note

As noted in the podcast, Ken Russell's widow Lisi has been in touch, as he told her FROM THE FLIPSIDE to reach out to me (he literally said "look up Richard Martini.") After watching the podcast, she cleared up some questions raised: "Ken is bouncing. (He says) “I’d go more often to Luana’s class — her fan since PIT (Pit and the Pendulum for Roger Corman) — but I have a grasshopper mind,” Ken says. So funny Christopher came through. (I was Amanda’s understudy on stage.) Robert was curt with him about his singing voice at the time. (Hence, the dubbing.) And he and McGregor, whom Jennifer was surprised to see, were in a good film together (Beginners). You two know so much more than you know, as ever. — Lisi"

Jennifer being accurate with things she and I didn't know.

DIVINE COUNCILS IN THE AFTERLIFE - AUDIBLE VERSION

 Hello Hacking the Afterlife fans.

Hacking the Afterlife with Mick and the Psychic in Oz

Mick and Xzavia

Did this fun podcast a few weeks ago with Mick and the Psychic.  I'm rebroadcasting it with their permission on our podcast "Hacking the Afterlife."  What makes it dovetail with the work Jennifer and I are doing is that at some point, two of the people that Jennifer and I interview showed up on this podcast.

Here's the link:

One is Luana Anders, who fans of our podcast know to be my pal on the flipside who moderates our forum. Imagine my chagrin, when the host of their podcast said "Your friend Luana is here."

She brought with her none other than Marlon Brando.  What I didn't mention on the podcast, but am now, is that I have some of "Marlon Brando's ashes" - because close friends who went to the service were given packets of him, and one of his close friends gave me a packet. (How could I turn it down?)

Anyways, a packet of ashes is a packet of ashes - not claiming it's a cellphone or a calling card in any fashion, but I might have mentioned that on this podcast and did not.

Plus because they gave me "all the time in the world" I decided to do an example of "guided meditation" with each of them. With Mick, who is a licensed practicing hypnotherapist, I took him on a short visit with his guide to visit his council.  It's the same method I employed in the podcast with Simon Bown (and others, like Heather Wade) where I demonstrate how simple it is to ask questions and get answers the person doesn't realize they have access to.

In Xzavia's case, because she's a medium, I assumed she's had a few trips to visit her guide and council, but not so many trips to view her "life planning process."  By doing so, we have a lively discussion about a topic she wasn't aware of before the podcast.  Her description of a 360 view of her life and the possibilities isn't something I've heard before - but the idea that we can access this kind of an event is something that appears in the film "Hacking the Afterlife" - hackingtheafterlifefilm.com - where a therapist from Ventura CA recounts the incredible memory of his own life planning session on camera.

This is about the continuing research.  It's similar to what Jennifer and I do, and since she's going to be celebrating her daughter's graduation next week, I'll use this podcast to replace that one she'll miss.  I'm posting it now so I don't forget, and on Thursday will switch it over to the main podcast.

Enjoy!

Also...

Just a general thank you to all the folks who’ve been donating to the research. It’s not something I ask people to do, but some want to - and there’s a list of links at Rich Martini's WebPage - but I want to at the very least acknowledge a number of folks from around the planet who suddenly decided to send something my way to encourage me to continue doing what I’m doing. John in Arizona, Marc and Raili in Norway, Andrew in Switzerland, Cathy D and this story from Kai:

“My donation was a thank You for Your great work. I just finished the 2 books “It’s a Wonderful Afterlife.” “Architecture of the Afterlife” is waiting in line with the Tuning into afterlife. (And I still feel like to reread the first one “Hacking the Afterlife” there was a real “a-ha moment” in this book. In the chapter about talking to the spirit of Earth, I saw myself so clearly in a large auditorium, more like stadium, but indoors. It was like part of the (life) planning session, there were some planners in the middle and I so much wanted to be part of this current life, I looked over to my friends and they were like, “Don’t look at us, we will not joining you!” From the front of me, my son turned around and said, “I will help you with this.” Then I snapped back to my home, jumped out of chair and shouted, “I got the part, I got the part!” and I was really happy in this moment.

Your books are well written, entertaining, light and with so much information. I love your books. They are exactly what I need. No fictions. No dogmas. As a parent to trying to reach to the Flipside, I am open to every opportunity to learn how to do it. I’m on this journey a little over year and my son is guiding me where to look and from what to learn. I am amazed how much there is information. And I am sad that the only way to find the way to it seems to have to be the hard way.

It would be so much nicer to know who you are without it. But this seems to be the part of human experience. You lose some, you gain some. And then you will know; you haven’t lost anything really. I have my connections to the Flipside and You have been a great help leading me to find ways to do it. Thank You!”

Thank you Kai for that note, and I’m sorry for the loss of your son. He’s lucky to have chosen you. In terms of this research, which is unusual to say the least, I try to dedicate some part of my day to moving the needle forward. Whether it’s our podcast with medium Jennifer HackingTheAfterlife.com, or posting excerpts of films at Richard Martini MartiniZone - or putting up documentaries like FLIPSIDE or Hacking the Afterlife - or the 9 books I’ve put out there - it’s certainly something I’ve done because I feel compelled to do so.

It’s unusual to get donations from folks in Switzerland, Norway, Arizona - across the globe - but in my mind these people are all connected by the research. Because ultimately this research isn’t about me - it’s about how everyone says the same things about the journey with hypnosis, meditation or mediumship. And those nine books, three documentaries on Gaia demonstrate that.

In the 100 hypnotherapy sessions I’ve filmed, half without hypnosis, I’ve also done six of them with different hypnotherapists.

Each one has been a revelation of new information - afterwards I do the research to see how accurate or inaccurate my memory is, or my memories were. Then I transcribe the sessions, so I can get another crack at them, seeing what new ideas come to mind - and when I do so, it’s like I’m pushing the filters further out of the way.

My dreams have changed in that I have become aware during dreams that I am in a dream, that the people in my dream are playing roles in my dream, that I can stop them in the dream and ask them other questions about the journey. And then, when I do the podcast with Jennifer, frequently she’s start the podcast saying “You had an unusual dream yesterday.” And we explore what folks on the flipside were trying to share.

I guess this is a long preamble to a dream I had last night where I was hanging with my father, the inspiration for the book “Architecture of the Afterlife” - and we were talking about architecture, life, other stuff. And as the dream ended, I was aware of him taking my face in his hands as if to make me remember this moment, and saying “Son, you’re doing good work.”

This from a guy who built the largest university in the world (King Saud in Saudi Arabia) to the Sheraton on the Nile, a Beechnut factory in China, schools in Virginia and Chicago (they shot “Breakfast Club” in one of his his) to the window design on the Bahai Temple in Evanston - hearing “You’re doing good work” from dad the architect who worked at Holabird and Root is high praise.

Anyways, thanks for the continued support - it doesn’t need to be financial, it’s good when people have the courage to share stories of the afterlife that have happened to them, that they may or may not fear their colleagues or family will be horrified by - that lump all “tales of the flipside” with pyramid hat wearing people who speak in tongues. When someone shares a story, or research, or data - it’s humanity moving the needle forward in this unusual way that has only been available for a few decades. Sharing new information online with others in a forum about the afterlife.

Nothing wrong with examining the journey. It’s what we’ve been doing since we first started it.

My two cents.

Hacking the Afterlife Documentary

Here it is, live on Gaia:

Hacking the Afterlife Documentary

Interviews with Michael Newton, Brian Weiss, Scott De Tamble in action, video of people speaking about the afterlife while under hypnosis, and then interviews with people speaking about the afterlife without any hypnosis. Steph Arnold, Dr. Drew, Josh Davidow, Robert Towne. Footage of mediums speaking directly to pals on the flipside, Jennifer Shaffer, James Van Praagh (via the Charles Grodin show I worked on) Kimberly Ray.  Harry Dean Stanton, Bill Paxton, Howard Schultz, Merv Griffin. Not gone. Just not here.  If you aren't already speaking to loved ones, take a few minutes out of your day and learn how. There are laughs in this doc as well - not religious, anti science, scary, creepy or frightening in any way. There are laughs on the flipside as well!

In this sequel to the documentary Flipside, best selling author Richard Martini explores three different methods of "Hacking" or accessing the afterlife. One is via hypnotherapy, interviews with Michael Newton, Dr. Brian Weiss, Scott De Tamble, Dr. Wambach and footage from various hypnotherapy sessions. The second method is via mediumship, with interviews featuring Jennifer Shaffer, Kimberly Ray and James Van Praagh via a segment that Richard Martini produced for the Charles Grodin show. The third is through guided meditation with someone who has had an NDE or a consciousness altered event being asked simple questions about a memory they have. NDE experiencers Steph Arnold, Josh Davidow, David Bennett, guided meditation with Dr. Drew Pinsky and others are featured. These are three methodologies combined offer proof not only that an "afterlife" exists; but is accessible to anyone who takes the time to explore these modalities.

Featuring: Michael Newton, Scott De Tamble, Jennifer Shaffer, Kimberly Ray, Howard Schultz

I woke up this morning (approximately 5 am mountain time today) and I dreamt about you and a new book that you were having out. I heard music, a person talking about it and then your name. Seems to me a radio host talking. And it was probably a video too, I saw colors (white and blue with letters).
And I just remember it looking at this post of you right now (5.50 am).
That is weird!

welcome to my world. Thanks. First for mentioning it as we rarely do. When examined a dream could be metaphor or literal. In this case i was talking about my book last night "Architecture of the Afterlife " with George Noory and there are musical breaks between segments. (Show ran 11-1 am your time.) So could be someone on the flipside had you tune in (without a radio.) Could be a memory of a previous show... combined with this blue and white ad. But could be this actual show. Id suggest Sign up for free trial and listen to it . See if it rings a bell. Could be someone on the flipside trying to introduce the topic.

I will listen to the show later today.

that's funny.. yes the artwork is blue and white.. look at yesterday's blog at richmartini.com - the artwork from "Beyond Belief." Yes you described exactly what is sounds like during the interview. Don't get caught up in airtime. We are outside of time when asleep (or off planet). You heard the show. Must be that phantom chip the aliens planted...I'm kidding! Enjoy the show. Obviously someone or higher self wants you to hear it.

I know why I saw/hear about you last night!!! I was listening to the show, and a caller said he tried many things to communicate with his deceased mother (who suppose to give him the lottery numbers lol).
You taught this caller to do a short list of questions and I will say visualizations (like in hypnosis), to make contact with his mother.
It's been today 11 months since my mother in law passed away, and my husband said to me that he dreamed about her last night.
I suddenly got emotional, and I knew I have to teach him the process of visualization and asking questions. My husband has been hoping to talk with her since she passed (he dreamed a few times with her) he misses her so much and they both love each other very much.
I just wanted to let you know. Thanks a lot!

that's lovely =- thank you for sharing your story! When someone reaches out to me based on a dream or some other odd vivid event, I always suspect it's someone on the flipside who has tapped them on the shoulder and said "Hey, reach out to Rich, he knows how to get through to me."  And here we are - hope your husband chats with her and tells her I said hello!
