Following the premise that "we don't die" I begin to interview mediums (whose work I have verified) to see if we can ask the same questions to the same people on the flipside, using different mediums to see what the results are.  I include those results, as well as interviews with a number of people who claim while fully conscious, to be able to access this same arena. The second third of the book are mediums who contact someone who claims to be Amelia Earhart, the third part of the book is easily the most controversial; examining claims for people who say that they "met" or "spoke to" Jesus during their near death event, while having an out of body experience, while under hypnosis.

Om, Om on the Range

Saw a license plate yesterday - OmWard.  Or maybe it was OmLand.

I forget.

But I thought, hmm. Good idea.

If you want to meditate, a lot of people offer that you can use the word OM.

What does it mean?

ōm

noun

"a mystic syllable, considered the most sacred mantra in Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism. It appears at the beginning and end of most Sanskrit recitations, prayers, and texts."

Okay, let's clear that one up, shall we?

Om can also mean "homage." (aum) As in I pay homage to the spirit within you when I put my hands together and bow to you.

When I say "Om Mani Padme Hum" (as the Tibetans say as a mantra, sometimes all day long) it literally means "Praise to the knowledge in the Lotus Sutra." (It's the same phrase that Nichirin discovered in Japan - the same exact phrase - but he said it in Japanese: "Nam Myoho Regne Kyo."

Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō (南無妙法蓮華経) (also known as Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō) (English: Devotion to the Mystic Law of the Lotus Sutra or Glory to the Sutra of the Lotus of the Supreme Law) is the central mantra chanted within all forms of Nichiren Buddhism as well as Tendai Buddhism.

Praise to the knowledge in the Lotus Sutra.

If you look it up, or ask a person in SGI you'll hear something else. "it's a magical phrase. It doesn't mean anything, but it brings gifts."  Actually it does mean something very specific.  Praise to Buddha's teaching about non attachment.  It's pretty simple.

If you look up Om Mani Padme Hum:

According to 14th Dalai Lama:

It is very good to recite the mantra "Om mani padme hum", but while you are doing it, you should be thinking on its meaning, for the meaning of the six syllables is great and vast. The first,"Om" symbolizes the practitioner's impure body, speech, and mind; it also symbolizes the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha.

The path is indicated by the next four syllables. "Mani", meaning jewel, symbolizes the factors of method: (the) altruistic intention to become enlightened, compassion, and love.

The two syllables, "padme", meaning lotus, symbolize wisdom.

Purity must be achieved by an indivisible unity of method and wisdom, symbolized by the final syllable "hum", which indicates indivisibility.

So - "Praise to the knowledge of the Lotus Sutra teaching."  You know the Lotus Sutra don't you?  It's the teaching the Buddha gives that teaches how to "detach" or have the ability of "unattachment" to the mundane things in life, because they have "no inherent meaning."  That sounds a bit elevated - but let's just say what he's saying in that teaching is "everything is vanity." (Vanum Populatum anyone?)

That we attach meaning to things out of a desire to own them, be part of them, or because we're inured to wanting them, or we can't get away from the desire to have them.  A bit like the Dopamine Squirt - which is what happens when your cell phone dings, buzzes or rings.

Your brain squirts some dopamine in response - it's the idea of gaining a reward, like Pavlov's dogs waiting for food. We are anticipating some kind of response, and as "60 Minutes" put it the other day, that's addictive behavior, and the tech companies are trying to get you addicted to your cellphone, or your device, or your computer, or your website, because... well, it means money. (Excellent segment - check the link above)

So don't get attached, okay?  Learn to turn it off.  Just as we learn to turn off our attachment to "things" or to "fame" or to "celebrity" or to "beauty" or to any of the other things we seem obsessed with.  Turn it off dude. Just let go.

Back to the Home concept.

As some of you have heard, I've been talking about "home" lately. That's the place where we go between lives, the place where two thirds of our energy always resides - back home, up there in the ether, up there in heaven, back there offstage when we aren't here on stage.




Home.

As I talk about in this book talk: "Home on the Range."

But it occurred to me, that Om and Home are the same syllable.

So why not use one instead of the other?

Try it.  Say "Home" like you would say "Om." They say that "Om" is the primal sound of the Universe, or "Aum." Okay, so let that be the case.

 Just draw it out, let your body resonate, let your voice take hold of the word and then - here's the fun part - allow your mind and heart to open up to the concept of "home" whatever that means to you.

No one has the same idea of what home is.  We all come from different backgrounds and feelings, even twins - so there are no two versions of home on the planet.  That's a strong thing to say - because it shows that we aren't all the same, we aren't all alike, we aren't all one species - that we aren't programmed robots - otherwise when I say "think of home" you'd think of the same place as everyone else does.

BUT NO ONE DOES.




Everyone has a different feeling of what HOME is.

What better way to honor your home then to allow it to be part of your daily life and routine?

So TRY IT WITH ME.

Let it out.  Sing it.  Just use the word as one long syllable ... open your heart, your lungs and say it aloud. Say it so loud that you're afraid someone is going to ask what's wrong with you.

HOME.

HOOOOOOOOOME....

HOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMEEEE....

You get the idea.

If you were from Mars this would be "home." NASA

And now - picture yourself in a space of comfort and peace and unconditional love. Because at its heart that's what home is. People say it all the time - "I feel it's a place of being relaxed, of being loved, of being in comfort." When I ask "what kind of love is it?" They almost always answer

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

HOME IS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

Say it loud, say it proud.

Home.

A Recipe for Talking to the Flipside

Had a lunch with my pal Jennifer Shaffer today.  We talked about a recent case that she worked on, it was difficult for her to relate all the details because of the tragedy involved.  Sad story all around, but she was able to help some very distraught parents, and a family in the midst of the most difficult days they've ever experienced.

It's a gift to be able to communicate with those on the other side, and of course it's also a stressful thing to be able to do.  It's much easier to be able to speak with our loved ones who've lived to be old and ancient, and are still able to communicate with us. 

Then we get the chance to focus on all the fun things that happened in their lives, and we don't spend too much time thinking about how tragic it is that their lives have been cut short.

But since we're talking to people on the other side, we can ask them questions, and we can observe that their lives continue on - just NOT WITH US.  So that's a source of consternation - especially when we're so used to taking care of our loved ones.  Who's going to take care of my loved one when they're out of my sight?

The answer is that they're okay.  They're not gone. They're just not here.

Easy to say, hard to accept. I know.

But while speaking with Jennifer today, a friend showed up again at our table.  Because Jennifer and I were talking about doing some project together - either to be filmed, or to be written, whichever comes first - but the idea of doing a project about how to help people communicate with the other side.

Michael Newton

As noted here earlier, Michael Newton appeared to come to our table a few weeks ago, and to talk about his working with "that side" of the veil, taking notes on how to help people "on the flipside" communicate with people on "this side."

So I asked him to give me a "one, two, three" process for communicating with folks on the other side.  Recently I've been recommending to people that they take out a photograph of a loved one and to meditate on that photograph, to think about the person in the present tense and to address them that way... 

And he said that was a waste of time.

He said, "Yes, that's fine,that can work for some people, but most people get confused at the word meditation, as it implies some kind of work they have to do, which is just another way of putting up another partition to keep us from seeing that it's not difficult at all to reach out to this side."

That's when I asked him to give me a "one, two, three" recipe that I could pass along.

He said "Just think of them. Say their name and they'll appear."  I asked "Say it aloud?"  He said "No, you can think it.  Just picture them, ask them a question and they'll answer it."  I asked "How do people differentiate between what they're going to see as their imagination or wishful thinking and their loved ones actually speaking with them?"  He said "Write it down.  You'll hear the answer before you can think of what the answer can be. And when you write it down you'll have a heart connection to what's been said, and from that you'll know that it's true."

Michael was (and is) a no nonsense kind of guy.  He was famous for not consulting with other people in the "past life" community - he did all of his research over 30 years on his own, using his own powers of intuition and discovery.  And his four books make for an excellent primer in how to do that.

So I wasn't surprised to hear him tell me to "not waste people's time" with getting them to meditate on their loved ones, as the word itself requires some thinking and practice in order to feel comfortable getting them to appear.  His attitude was to "keep it simple."  

Just think of your loved one. Say their name to yourself or out loud. Ask them some questions. Write down the answers. See which ones resonate with you.

Wise advice from a wise fellow

That's pretty simple.  And I share it here not because I'm claiming that it came from Michael Newton - who also thanked me for talking about him in my books - Jennifer has never met the fellow other than through my books - but she's quite specific about her answers when I ask questions.  I filmed the interview, it's about ten minutes long and will either post excerpts, or excerpt it for my next book.  But am posting it here first, so those who need to hear it can hear it!

On the Eve of my Birthday

61 years ago (I'll be 60 tomorrow) I stood in front of my council of elders and talked about my planned journey for this lifetime as Rich Martini. I suggested that I was coming for a variety of reasons, including getting a chance to work with some of my old friends again (Luana, my dad, among others) and I had decided upon the novel idea of using healing arts through work as a filmmaker.

I know this to be true because I've seen this event, and when I saw it, I remembered it.  So it's no different than any event I remember in this lifetime - it's just there, and I can access it at anytime. I can reflect upon the logic of it - I can remember a number of lifetimes in the healing arts (a "Brahman" Doctor in Boston, a Sioux "Wa'tanka" Holy Man, a Brahman Priest in Kerala, and Dominican Monk in Italy, and yes, even a nun in France who was forced into habit due to a rape that resulted in pregnancy, a even a Priest in Sumeria, a place I'd never been aware of until I described it), and I told my council that I felt that in choosing to be Rich Martini, I could step "outside the box" with this lifetime, and bring healing energy to others through music, writing and film.

I reported this to the hypnotherapist who asked me the question during my first between life hypnosis session: Jimmy asked me "Why did you choose Rich Martini?" (Jimmy Quast of EastonHypnosis.com) 

I said "Look, every thought, word or deed contains energy, and that can be healing energy, so when you write a song, write a screenplay or a book, or make a movie, all the energy that you put into each frame, note or page moves throughout the universe and affects people. And that can be a powerful tonic."  I then said "People who can belly laugh in a movie theater have instantly altered the mindset they were previously on - it's a healing thing to do. That's why you chose comedy as a vehicle.  Tears work in the same manner, but they require catharsis - seeing the tragedy, crying the tears, and then ingesting the lesson.  In the case of comedy, there's no quicker way to change a person's life than to make them laugh."

I also can report that upon accessing this memory, and discussing it again with the elders during a session of deep hypnosis, I said to them "I just wish I'd picked a guy who would be more successful at it."

I can report to you that got laughs - both from Jimmy who was doing the five hour session, and the "council of elders" that I saw in my mind's eye.  They all laughed, and Jimmy laughed.  The only time I've gotten laughs on two planes.

But - I'm not clear that having more "success" in a field actually helps you in the endeavor to heal others, in fact, it may hinder it. 

If this had been as big a hit as the audience cards
said it would be, I would've missed the Flipside altogether.

I mention this because it's accessible to my mind now, and when I try to think about those lifetimes, more details come into focus.

I could be delusional, that's a given.  And I'm skeptical enough to allow that somehow in some manner that I'm aware of, I'm accessing these "other lives" through some kind of faulty memory - perhaps the Jungian unconscious that so many claim people who remember past lives can access.

But I'm also open to the concept that it is accurate, that I am accessing these memories accurately. That when I hear or experience "new information" from the memory of these events, it's not that I'm accessing someone else's experience or energetic memory - but my own.

For example, Dr. Brian Weiss recalled a lifetime where he was a wealthy merchant who met Jesus.  He never told anyone about this past life regression, until a patient who was remembering the lifetime where they saw Jesus walking the Via Dolorosa with his cross, said "And you were there."  And the patient accurately described the unusual robe that Weiss had seen himself wearing with its orange piping along the edges of the cloth.  As I say "new information."  The client could not have been privy to Weiss' past life memory - nor could he have picked it up in some "mind transfer process."  He was there, and Dr. Weiss was there as well.  

So on this eve of my 60th birthday - it's worth reflecting that I would be 61 in Tibet (they count the time in the womb as 9 months being alive.) I'm reflecting on my choice of parents, the concert pianist and the architect, who crafted such a wonderfully musical journey for me.

But I'm not 60 in my higher conscious self - I can't tell you how old that fella is, as I don't have access to an accurate date because they calculate time "differently" over there.  Suffice to say it's been a long time that I've been around.

And a long time for you as well dear reader.

So while I celebrate this last day of my 59 years, please reflect on the fact that you chose to be on the planet, you chose to be who you are, and you chose to come to this page today to reflect upon it.

Hi.   An update on "Flipside" and a link if you'd like to invest in the sequel! (please forward this if you think it is for someone you know who is "into" this sort of thing).

We had the "afterlife convention" here in Santa Monica this past weekend, (afterlifeconvention.com) with scientists, doctors and spiritual folks  weighing in with experiences, stories, and films about the latest research in the field.  

Princeton grad Paul Davids spoke about his film "Life after Death" film which contains 40 different bits of evidence of contact (He was making a doc about atheist/sci fi writer Forrest Ackerman, contacts Davids documented and had science labs examine.)  Harvard/Yale/University of Arizona's Gary Schwartz talked about his latest research using triple blind studies to show how spirit communication can be documented with scientific protocol. Dr. Ken Stoller spoke about his ongoing conversations with his son who passed some years back, and Dr Rajiv Parti described his near death experience which altered his world view, caused him to dramatically change his course to become a motivational speaker. 

NY Medium Pattie Canova talked about growing up on the streets of NY, and how "hearing voices" and then predicting events affected her life.  Two hypnotherapists trained by Michael Newton spoke, Savarna Wiley talked about the trends that are being reported by their therapists worldwide, where people claim that the "veil is thinning" when it comes to contact with lost loved ones, and Scott De Tamble, who is featured in "Flipside", led the crowd in a group session of past life/between life therapy - I heard some pretty dramatic stories about what these people think they heard or saw I'd like to include in the next book.

So I've created a "GoFundMe" site to further this research, pay the rent, and if you can manage to donate something, anything, it would be greatly appreciated.  I used Kickstarter for my Earhart project but since I didn't reach the goal, funds weren't "allocated." (Thankfully other investors came forward and I wound up going to Saipan and collecting evidence anyway - results are at EarhartOnSaipan.com). Flipside moment for the day: when...

Flipside moment for the day: when you examine the moment you met your soul mate, the person you felt you were always connected to - that's when you experience something that's "out of time" or beyond easy comprehension. When you examine that moment - "I felt comfortable" "I felt home" are responses I've heard - its a confirmation that you're on the path you're supposed to be on - you're doing what you're supposed to be doing, what you signed up to do and reconnecting with someone who had signed up to do the same. It's those "aha" moments I'm researching.

I need your help to finish my next book "Flipside II; The Veil is Thinning." I've written the first book "Flipside: A Tourist's Guide On How To Navigate the Afterlife " (which has gone to #1 in its genre on Amazon - twice!) The documentary is available on Amazon as well - but I've dropped everything to continue filming sessions of people under deep hypnosis, where they say basically the same things about the afterlife as the others have said, only more profoundly so! I'm trying to focus on just writing that new book, but it's a scramble to do so. So I thought, well, if you're a fan of the work, and you can afford to, please help support me in this research, and writing the second book in this series. My wife and kids will thank you too!
