The Afterlife Consultant - Rich Martini

At the insistence of my colleague and pal Jennifer Shaffer, I'm announcing (trumpets please) that I am starting consultations "about the flipside."

If you've heard me speak on the topic at "Coast to Coast AM" or on "Beyond Belief" you know that George Noory calls me "The Afterlife Expert."

I can't do what Jennifer Shaffer does as a medium - speak directly to folks on the flipside, and I can't do what Scott De Tamble does - spend four to six hours speaking directly to your guides on the other side while you're under deep hypnosis - but I can do something that touches on aspects of both.

And that is "talk to you and your guides about the afterlife."

I know that sounds odd. But in my experience, people are attracted to this field not because they're "just curious" - but because either someone on the flipside needs to speak with them, or one of their guides wants them to access this information.

And I do so without hypnosis of any kind.  In fact, it's often over coffee, in my favorite coffee shop.  So no one is hypnotized during these sessions, however, they all say that they "feel as if they've been hypnotized" because they see, sense or experience things they've never experienced before.

Here are a few examples that I've filmed:

1. Santa Barbara
2. Dr. Drew
3. Live on the Radio

I always insist - to the point of being annoying - that anyone who seriously wants to examine or put themselves deeply into this research should seek out a trained hypnotherapist who does this kind of work.  I recommend finding a hypnotherapist who can take them further and much deeper than I ever have the patience to do so - and in that case, I recommend hypnotherapist trained by the Newton Institute. I do so because I've filmed dozens of sessions from folks who were trained by them.
With Jennifer Shaffer and Scott De Tamble

In Los Angeles, I often work with Scott De Tamble, who is an expert in this field. He has done hundreds of between life sessions, and I've filmed a few dozen of them.

When a person wants to have direct contact with a loved one on the flipside, I recommend reaching out to Jennifer Shaffer.  I've worked with Jennifer, she works with law enforcement and has done over 3000 cases already.

I've been on "Coast to Coast AM" as the "Afterlife Expert."  So if I'm expert at anything, it's at asking questions that elicit answers we don't think we're aware of.

So if you're in search of understanding the architecture of the afterlife, I can help you do that, as well as to help you access certain elements of that journey from dreams or other events.  If you've had a near death experience, or some other consciousness altered event, I can help you access the event on a deeper more profound level than your memory can.

I've done this with a number of individuals live on stage (see above links) and recently I did so with a fellow who reached out to me here in Santa Monica.

This man had a dream one night where a voice said to him "You need to learn how to speak to your children after you're dead."

The sentence startled him, had no idea who said it or why. He began to research the topic and found me living in the same town. He contacted me after reading a few books on the topic.

He was startled by the sentence.  It wasn't a topic he was researching, it wasn't something he was focused on, and needless to say, the sentence, as clear as it was, disturbed him.  Who said it?  Why did they say it? Was it a warning of some kind?

We met for coffee and discussed it.  He told me about his life growing up, the journeys he had been on, and nothing from what he described seemed to prompt this kind of message.  I broke it down into three pieces for him; 1. The sentence was said at a time when he wasn't stressed.  If he had been, had a health issue or some other stressful event, he would have associated it with that problem.  But since it was not, he would have no associations to attach to it.  2. It mentioned his children, which made it a more heartfelt message - if he had heard "you need to learn to speak to people on the other side when you're dead" it might have been dismissed as a generic "message."  But since his children were attached to it, it gave import.  3.  The message, for good or bad, had caused him to find me so I could walk him through it.

Then we began to talk about who the person was who might have sent the message.  He said he did not know who the voice was - but I asked him to "open himself up to the possibility that he might know who that was" and to "allow an image of that person to come to mind."  (Again, no hypnosis, just coffee.) At some point, he glanced over my shoulder and began to describe someone he saw in his mind's eye. A friend. Not from this life, but from previous lifetimes.

We examined those lifetimes.  He remembered being a soldier with this fellow back in the 1300's in France, where they were comrades that helped people in the countryside to fight against other marauding people.  Like a mercenary, but the word "musketeer" came to mind.  He had a name and a place for these activities, and I was able to research and find them to be accurate.

We walked through another lifetime memory, that of him and this fellow fighting alongside soldiers in "red coats" against soldiers in "blue coats."  They were fighting for survival mostly, but in this case when asked to say his name back then, he spelled it as Pawnee.

This fellow is not from the U.S. so he was not aware of the British soldiers paying the Pawnee to fight alongside of them against the Americans during the revolutionary and War of 1812.  He later looked up the outfits that he had seen in his mind's eye, and found accurate descriptions of what he saw.

Pawnee as described by this man who had never heard of the tribe.
But it's not enough to ask about previous lifetimes - more important is "What did these lives have in common?"  Or "how do these lives relate to your overall journey or theme of your life?"  He examined that as well, and at some point I walked him into visit his council.

It was there that he met some of the guides that have been overseeing all of his lifetimes, and I asked the members of his council detailed questions about their own path and journey.

We also spoke to an "entity" that appeared that incarnates here on the planet as a tree. We asked her questions about that journey and when asked about opinion of humans this feminine entity said "She feels sad." I asked "Why?" She said "Because humans have lost their ability to communicate with trees. Thousands of years ago they had the ability. But they have lost it. Not many humans can communicate with us."

I didn't invent this conversation. The man I was speaking with, fully conscious, had never heard of anyone "communicating with a tree."  But there, over coffee, we had this unusual conversation (from the man's subconscious answering my questions, like "Can we talk to this entity? Is it male or female, neither or both?") that allowed us to get an answer to a question that neither of us had ever thought to ask, or ever thought could be answered.

Trees are sad on our behalf. At least this one was.

All of this took about two hours over coffee at my favorite spot.

Jennifer insists that people will want to "sign up" to do something like this with me on a regular basis. We'll see.

with Jennifer Shaffer and George Noory

So I'm offering this service to anyone who might be in Santa Monica who wants to reach out and talk about the flipside. I can so via phone, skype or in person.

If you'd like to schedule a consultation, send an email to me at MartiniConsultants (at) gmail - and we can figure it out from there.  Thanks for tuning in!

A Trip down Memory Lane with a renowned Medium

Had an unusual experience the other day.

My soul group. Grant and Lee circa 1971

It was with a medium, someone who speaks to those no longer on the planet around the world.  Someone whose work is admired world wide for its acuity and accuracy.

We had an hour long discussion about the Flipside.

I asked him to recount his first memories of having the ability to experience talking to spirit - or people on the flipside.  He said when he was a little boy, he saw another little boy in his room.  He said the boy looked like a "chimney sweep" - someone out of a Dickens novel ("Oliver Twist" was published in 1837).

He said the boy was in the shadows, and he saw him in his room when he was 8 years old.

I asked him if he knew who the boy was. He said he did not.

He said that he considered him like an "imaginary friend."  It was years later that he told others about his ability to see, hear or sense people on the Flipside, and he never saw the little boy again.

Medium Jennifer Shaffer and hypnotherapist Scott De Tamble

I asked him if he wanted to.

He kind of looked at me, blinked, and I said "It's kind of thing that I do."

What does that mean?

Well, I've found that in interviewing someone like a medium - someone who has a direct connection to people no longer on the planet - I call them "dixie cups" - remember the paper cups attached to a string that we used to speak to our friends with? Some worked better than others - some you could hear the connection really well.

(I remember when I went to school in Rome, we had the speaking dixie cups from one balcony to the one below. And I can remember speaking to someone 30 yards away on another balcony as if he was in my ear.  But I digress.)

Recently I spoke to a medium in Colorado.  I asked her the same question. She said "when I was a child I saw a gremlin in my room and it scared the heck out of me. But I realized I could see things or people that weren't there."

And I said to her "Would you like to talk to him?"

At first she seemed reluctant - perhaps frightened to do so.  I said "What does he look like in your memory?" She said "He's scary, looks like a gargoyle and has red eyes."  I said "Take a photograph in your mind. Now move closer to him. What's scary about him?"  She said "Well, he has red eyes."  I said "What's scary about the color red? You mean he has different colored eyes. Is there anything about him that is malevolent?"  She said "Not really."

I said "Well let's ask him directly. Can I ask him directly and he can reply through you?" She nodded "okay."  I said "So who are you Mr. Gremlin and what are you going scaring the heck out of this little girl?"  She replied - in his voice and demeanor - that he was from "a lower realm" and that he occasionally came to "this realm."

I said "By lower, do you mean that as a negative? That the realm you're from is negative, or malevolent?"  He said "No. I mean denser."  I said "Okay, can you show our friend here what it's like on the realm you normally inhabit - what do people look like over there? Do you have friends and family?"
Can you hear me now?

"Yes" he said. "But not like here."  I said "Okay, thanks for that, but can you show her what your reason for appearing in her room was? How was that associated with this person?"  He said "I was just visiting.  I sometimes like to visit this realm, things are different here, no I wasn't trying to scare her. But sometimes that happens."

I thanked him for the opportunity to interview him and we moved on into other areas, taking her to communicate with her primary guide, who took her in to visit with her council.
Heather Wade
Midnight in the Desert Radio

I noted in these pages recently my interview with Heather Wade on "Midnight in the Desert" where using her near death experience as a gateway, we went back to visit with her guide, and asked her guide to visit with her council, and to examine who these councilors are, and what role they have in her spiritual progression.

We did this live on air, so anyone who wants to hear the technique can listen for themselves to the broadcast - but we got to visit with people Heather says she's never seen or met before consciously, but felt like she'd known them forever.

I point out these two cases, as to what my process is in asking these questions.  If it's true that we don't die, if it's true we have spirit guides, if it's true we have councils and soul groups and everything else that might decade of research has shown consistently (referencing the 40 sessions I've filmed, the dozens of interviews, and the thousands of cases cited by Michael Newton, Dr. Wambach and others) - then what's the harm in conducting an interview as if I know where we're going, even if the interviewee does not?

I completely agree that I'm asking leading questions.

But to complain about leading questions is like being in a swimming pool and hoping to float to the edge.  It's okay to kick your feet, or paddle, or swim - if every time you do so you reach the side of the pool - or you get the same results - I'd argue that it's a waste of time to float in the middle of the pool waiting for results, when it's much easier to help people to swim to the edge.  Not the best metaphor, but you get the idea.
Memory is a funny thing.

So I asked my friend the medium about this waif that appeared in his room when he was 8.

I said "Who is he?" He said "I don't know."  I said "Can you see him now?" He said "yes."  I said "Okay, walk over to him and tell me what he looks like." He described a young boy, also about 8, who was dirty and wearing the clothing of the 19th century.  I said "What color are his eyes?"  He said "I can't see them."  I said, "Take his hands in your minds eye, and pull him into the light."  He said "They're blue." I said "Describe him." He said "He looks like me, but younger."

I said "ask this fellow his name."  He said "I'm hearing Will.  William Collins."

I said "So Will, have you ever had a lifetime with our friend here?" He said "yes." I said "Can you show him that lifetime now?"  And my friend said "I see a poor house in London. About 1861. It's on Cooper Street."

I asked him to tell me about the place - if there was any happier time, and he said that there wasn't. It was all misery. But that he and Will lived there, were brothers in 1861. His name was Tom.

I asked to go to Will's last day on the planet. He described a boy lying dead on the floor from consumption.  It wasn't much later.  I asked him to follow Will through the death process - and he said "I see a light, but I can't seem to get there. I'm stuck here."  I said "that's okay, let's revisit this later."  I asked him to go back to Tom, his own lifetime, and follow him to a place where he did something outside the poor house on Cooper street.

Note: This is historically accurate. Here's a portrait of a poor house on Cooper Street from that same year: 1861. Here's a link to a reference from a book in 1870: and here's from John Hollingshead's: "Ragged London in 1861"

"
Not far from this place towards the end of
our panorama nestling at the back of the
Waterloo Road, immediately under the shadow of
the large engineering premises of Messrs. Mauds-
lay, Sons, and Field, is a reproduction of the
worst features of a back settlement in Man-
chester, Bolton, or Birmingham. In no part of
the overcrowded parish of Lambeth a parish
that probably contains nearly one hundred and
seventy thousand people are there any streets
more badly built, more neglected, or more hope-
lessly filthy and miserable than Jurston Street,
Cooper Street, and their adjacent thoroughfares."

The Census taker from 1861 in a poor house taking names.

I looked up and found a number of Tom and William Collins (and Colins) as well as fellows named Tom Collins who died in wars just prior to 1861.  The type of squalor that the medium described, was not something I was aware of. I am a fan of Dickens and Oliver Twist - but I didn't realize that book was written in 1830's.  He described these children in their ragamuffin clothes, and saw them sweeping, cleaning, and winding up with dirt all over them in squalid conditions.

When I asked him to remember a happier time in that lifetime, he thought about it for a long time and then said there were none. I asked if he ever went anywhere outside the poor house, and he said when he did, he would go off to a public house - a tavern.

I asked what was the name and he said "It looks like the "Nell Gwynne" pub. (The Nell Gwynne is 7 miles from Cooper Street) He said he was too young to buy a drink, but he went there to help out, to get any kind of food he could.  He said that there were "bareknuckle fights" going on - and that he saw a lot of blood from his perspective.

He described hiding under the tables to get bits of food and scraps, but from his perspective it was dark and bloody.

I asked him to go to the last day of that life, and he said that he too, died on the floor not much longer after his brother. He saw his body lying on the same floor of the same poor house where his brother had died.

Note: The Nell Gwynn pub was originally the Bull Free House - built in the 18th century, turned into a pub in the early 1800's. Three minutes away from it is the "Lamb and Flag" another pub which was famous for its bareknuckle fights in the 1800's.

I asked him why he experienced this lifetime. What was the purpose of it?

He said "Sharing."  I asked "how did you learn about sharing?" He said that he took the food and shared with the others in the poor house.

A rather difficult lesson in sharing.

People often describe these
places of healing as in a forest setting
I asked if we could go forward after his death and he took us through the light, and into a beautiful field, which I called "a place of healing" and he met with his guide there.

I asked him to walk around this place, and he said "stepping into the water is a cleansing feeling" and I asked him to describe the trees - "energetic beings."  (This is a common memory - sometimes its inside, sometimes outside - but it's a place of total contentment.  He said as much, and I asked if it was a place of unconditional love?  He said, "yes."

Then I asked his guide to take him to "his council."  I said "Our friend here may not know what I'm talking about, but you do."  And he was standing in front of a group of 8 people in a circle around him. (Heather Wade had 12 people in her group, the Medium in Colorado had 8 as well.)  I asked him to approach each member of his council, describe them and tell me what quality they represented in his "spiritual evolvement."

You never know who shows up in your soul group.

And like that we went around the council. One had a carving of a bear hanging around his neck - I asked what that represented and he said "courage."  We got all the other 8 qualities of his counselors including "sharing."

As we did this interview, we were sitting outside in a cafe - there was never a moment when we weren't just "chatting over coffee" about these events. He never closed his eyes, and I never changed or modulated the way I was speaking. But he had full access to what he was seeing while he  kind of stared into the distance.

My council in Ladakh.

After about an hour or so, he paused and said "It's really hard to maintain focus like this."  (He had also done a number of sessions earlier in the day) I thanked all the council members for giving us the opportunity to interview them, talk to them, I spoke to his guide (a Tibetan) in Tibetan - he said his guide's name and I said "that means "wind" in Tibetan." (Lung)

(Consciously, I said it aloud before I knew what I was saying - I have read books about Tibetan medicine, so I probably know what that word means in my subconscious, but my conscious mind does not.)

After this session, I had to look the word up, and indeed it does mean "wind" in Tibetan - and refers to the engine of consciousness.  ("Wind Horse" is "Lung Ta" - The word itself is like the horse ("ta") that consciousness rides upon.

Finally, I asked his guide if he could show us his friend Will and if he had ever left the place he was in. He said that he saw Will in his "soul group" - as an adult, a handsome, happy fellow in his 30's.  That was kind of thrilling for me - as we left him behind in this conversation, and I had the presence of mind to ask about what happened to him - and when he saw him our mutual friend smiled.

Rodin looking like me in a tophat.
I said "Let's ask Will - have you incarnated since then, or are you on the planet now?" And Will said "Yes, I'm in Spain.  He gave his first name - his last name was not accessible - but I asked "Is that because our friend here is going to meet you at some point in the future so that you can reconnect?"  And Will said "Yes. In Spain."

I filmed this encounter, and at some future date, I'll see if my friend the world famous medium wants me to share more details about it.  But for now, I'm sharing it because it's just one more example of how we have access to our previous lifetimes, we have access to our guides, we have access to our council of elders - all of these things are accessible.

I asked him prior to the session if he had ever "spoken to his council" and he said "no," and when he told me about this young boy who appeared in his room, I asked if he knew who he was, or had seen him since, and he said "no."  But he did know who he was - it just wasn't available to his conscious mind.

It helps if you have a Newton trained hypnotherapist doing this work (a searchable database is at NewtonInstitute.org to find a hypnotherapist trained in this method near you), and my ability to do so is based on the ten years of research and the 40 sessions I've filmed.  Again, if you have access to a Newton Trained therapist, I highly recommend that route - but it serves to prove that we do have access to this information.  It just requires us to focus on it.

All we need to do is listen.

Speaking of the dead.... with the "Afterlife Expert"

Had a lovely event yesterday with George Noory, illustrious Coast to Coast AM host -  at the Great Greek in the valley.

With JenniferShaffer.com and George Noory (Coast to Coast AM)

As I mentioned to the intimate gathering, it was George who dubbed me "The Afterlife Expert."  Which is an unusual moniker, not one I would have given myself (who am I again?) but in light of the past decade of research that I've been doing about the afterlife, and what it's all about, I'll take it.

The Afterlife Expert.  That's me.

Someone asked me if I "talk to the dead." My answer; "I've focused on interviewing people no longer on the planet, and I can tell you how they say they want to be talked to, and how to listen for messages."

I've been doing this for awhile now with friends and some different people, and after many requests to do it on a one to one basis, I've decided to hang out my shingle to do a session.  I've posted the details at TheAfterlifeExpert.com  If you'd like to book an "Afterlife Session" with me, email me at richardmartini (at) gmail (dot) com.

During the event I explained how I'd lived a decade a few blocks from the venue, and how unusual my journey back to Ventura Blvd. was.  (People have read about it in "Flipside" so I won't go into here.)  But ultimately it was giving a public talk at the International Association of Near Death Studies" that led me to George Noory's show, so the idea that we would be in this location together - about a mile from his offices, and a few blocks from my old residence - was uncanny for me.

Flipside film or book.

I spoke about how I came to interview "people who are no longer on the planet" with the help of people under deep hypnosis (via Michael Newton's work, and local hypnotherapist Scott De Tamble lightbetweenlives.com) and how mediums like Jennifer Shaffer (JenniferShaffer.com) had helped me "prove beyond a shadow of doubt" that I was actually speaking to people no longer on the planet.

(During one of our many sessions, someone told me a detail about their passing that no one knows - no one had ever heard, including myself with 30 years of research into this person - and yet she told Jennifer a detail about her passing that was not public knowledge - until I literally dug it up months later, confirming its accuracy.)

Available online everywhere.
ON SALE NOW!

When we hear "new information" from people on the flipside - meaning something that could not by explained by cryptomnesia (hearing or reading it somewhere else), could not be hypoxia (hallucination), could not be synthesthesia (wires mixed in the brain) - new information that only the person on the flipside would know and could impart to us, then it's either that some part of our subconscious is revealing a mystery that has been hidden from civilization for eons - or we're actually speaking to people no longer on the planet.

So I can help people do that - set the table so to speak - or put the empty chair out for Elijah in the Seder tradition - to make themselves available for a conversation with a loved one.  I've asked the question many times during interview - "So how can someone get a hold of you?" And I've heard consistent answers about that topic.

Not just to have someone we know and love "show up" in some kind of etheric way, via a dream or a vision - which itself is something to examine - but in a way that allows for them to answer your questions directly.

Only we are capable of knowing when our loved one contacts us - no one else is privy that the feeling or energy involved when a loved one takes our hand, our shoulder, or gives us a hug - only we know that feeling. Someone who doesn't know that feeling might assume it's a "memory" - but memory doesn't include all the senses, normally, unless it's something dramatic.

A pal on the other side whom I've spoken to often. Heard back as well.

So talking to a loved one on the other side involves all of our senses, and allows us to ask and get answers to our life's more profound questions.  It doesn't mean we're going to always get answers to whatever question we have ("and what were those lottery numbers again?") because we have our own path and journey that would be disrupted by any number of things. Including having a conversation with a loved one who is no longer here.

However, in my research I've found there are numerous "non invasive" ways for our loved ones to reach out to us, ways that won't alter our path and journey, yet will allow us to feel as if we've reconnected with them - perhaps to alleviate grief or stress.

If someone wants to speak directly to their loved ones, I highly recommend seeing a hypnotherapist trained in the Michael Newton method of hypnotherapy (there's a searchable database on their website NewtonInstitute.org) or finding a medium that you have a connection with, that has come recommended to you for whatever reason. (I happen to know and be friends with JenniferShaffer.com , so that's one person that I can recommend. There are many others, but you need to do the research before you reach out to them.)

But if you have a desire to talk to me about it - I've available for that (for a fee!) and you can schedule you're own conference with me by writing me at my gmail address - richardmartini - (not richmartini at gmail, that's another guy) but richardmartini (at) gmail (dot) com.   Let me know if it's something I can help you with. Let's see where we get to...

Not a cemetery per se Per LaChaise.
But a place for memories of loved ones.

And finally, this near death was posted recently at the IANDS.org site (a wonderful place to share and hear about other worldly events)

NDE Account Submitted to IANDS (International Association for Near Death Studies):

"Moved to a new city. There was a water advisory I was unaware of.

Thought I had a bladder infection so drank more water. Had very high fever with excruciating back pain. Went to doctor who prescribed me antibiotics that were too weak. It was getting worse. I went back to sleep.

I was in too much pain but passed out anyway. All of a sudden I was floating in an upward trajectory towards a bright omnipresent light through a tunnel of sorts. The pain was completely gone and I felt lighter than air. The light was unconditional love unlike anything I have experienced here on Earth.

On my left was a light-being speaking telepathically to me. He welcomed me and we had a bit of a discussion. I was given the option whether I wanted to stay or go back. I suddenly realized I was dead and I came back.

I returned to the painful, heavy body I had just left. It was as if I had convulsed upon re-entry. It's taken me 28 years to fully integrate this experience into my life."

My comment:

"The light was unconditional love unlike anything I've experienced here on earth."

Sound familiar? We experience "conditional love" on the planet: "if you love me... I'll return it." But "back home" (as many call it under deep hypnosis) that's where this "unconditional love" is. Not here. There.

This is "new information" - if you imagined it the feeling would relate to a feeling you had here. But that's not what's reported. The feeling is unique to being "off the planet."

And how could we remember that feeling if we hadn't been off the planet? NDEs not only prove there is an afterlife, they offer insight into WHY we come here in the 1st place.

Why would anyone bother to go into a movie to experience feelings or emotions they don't already know? Why read a book, see a play that makes you learn new feelings or emotions?

Why bother coming to the planet to experience non-unconditional light or love?

The answers are right in front if you.
Open the door.
Open the drapes.
Let the light in.

My two cents."

Speaking to the Flipside

I'm doing this unusual experiment.

I'm filming people talking to the flipside.

I mean I'm filming people who are talking to their subconscious mind about things that they could not know, are not aware of, have not experienced or seen before.

I've done this about a dozen times so far.  Sometimes it's a friend who is curious about the kind of work I'm doing, sometimes it's someone who reached out to me because they had a bad dream, or some kind of odd experience.

And I ask if they want to "explore" it.

Yesterday I spent half an hour talking directly to a friend of mine who passed away a couple of weeks ago via medium Jennifer Shaffer. He was telling me what it was like for him over there - how after awhile, he has been able to "settle down" and have a conversation. He was eager to converse - not that he has no one to talk to - he appears to be enjoying himself over there, but he told me that he visits me often when I'm asleep and we go "on trips together."

I have no conscious memory of that.  But I do have a conscious memory of my friend's sense of humor, who he was, the kinds of projects he was interested in - the kind of dad he was.  I teased him a bit, to see if things might be different for him over there - but no, he's just like he was when he was here.

"Only faster."

I hesitate to say who this friend is, because I haven't been in touch with his family about these conversations, I will share them with them when it's the time and place.  But my friend suggested that we find a way to make a film out of these conversations and he's offered to "help me" get the appropriate people on the phone to do so.

We'll see.

It's a fun project though - I get to see my pal Jennifer Shaffer every week - she's an intuitive/medium who works with law enforcement nationwide to help in missing person cases.  I know how effective she is, and she appears quite a bit in "Hacking the Afterlife" giving me key information from the Flipside about some of the people who appear in the book.

I turn my camera on and we "talk" to whomever has decided to join us that afternoon - sometimes at my request, sometimes they just "show up."  But when they appear, I ask questions about their perspective. What's it like over there? What do we look like to you? If you were going to try to send a message to someone how would you do it? Give us a "one, two, three" process in how to communicate with our loved ones."  What they say is simple, yet fun.  Worth exploring.

Stay tuned!

The Goddess of Memory, Mnemosyne and the Flipside

Something odd happened to me yesterday....

(How many posts start this way?)

...related to the flipside.
Goddess of Memory by Rosetti

As mentioned in yesterday's post, I was having lunch with Jennifer Shaffer near her office in Manhattan Beach when it appeared that Michael Newton had shown up while we were chatting about making it easier for people to access the flipside.

But as I was leaving our lunch, I checked my cellphone for texts, and a word appeared on my instant message app:

Mnemonic

I've never used this word before, had to look it up. You'd think at my old age, most words would have come into our view, and we've used or dismissed them. But this word means a couple of things; it's related to memory.  The original word in Greek means "mindful."

It's often used in terms with a "Mnemonic Device" - which is like a place holder for a memory.  Like "Every Good Boy Does Fine" to remember the notes on the treble clef. But it can be a phrase, a visual, or any kind of "place holder" to help us with our memory.

Jennifer and I had just been talking about remembering our loved ones.  Could this be a message from the flipside with regard to how to do it? Or how to make it easy to do?

Michael had suggested that my method of trying to help remember people - like toasting them in present tense - or taking a photograph out and imagine how and where the photograph was taken, and then to ask that person questions you don't know the answer to...  it was amusing that Michael replied "keep it simple."  As in KISS - "Don't make people think they have to work to remember their loved ones, just allow it to happen when they speak their name aloud or in their mind."

A tree we planted in Paul Tracey's memory,
Billy Meyer and Mark Caplis. Now only
Mark remains. (Billy and the tree are on
the flipside)
Isn't that a version of a Mnemonic?  I also noted - as I tried to reproduce the word on my phone to see if it would appear with two letters - MN - I remembered that whenever I wrote about Michael Newton on my blackberry, by typing MN I got another phrase.  "Auto spell" is like a Mnemonic. It takes your symbols and turns them into phrases.  And the word itself begins with his initials. Michael Newton.

It turns out my phone needs the first four letters M N E M to automatically make that word appear.  Did my pocket type MNEM?  Not sure how it could have, I had my cell in my hand, took it to the table, walked it into lunch, set it on the table, walked it back to my car, looked at it and saw the word had appeared.

MNEMONIC.

Pronounced like "Demonic" but with an N. (amusing)

So I looked up the word. Where does it come from?

NOW IT GETS INTERESTING.

It comes from the Goddess of Memory.   That's Mnemosyne (good luck pronouncing that without a key) - but it's "Nee - moz - a - nee."  And it turns out she's one of the most famous Goddesses of all time, but has been ignored by authors for centuries.

Because her name was invoked before every Greek play.  They would stand in front of the audience and ask for Mnemosyne - Neemozanee - to help  them with their memory because plays are memorized, and they'd ask the Goddess of Memory for help "in getting it right."

Which relates to how epic stories were told through human history.  People like Homer would recount stories that had been repeated to him - aloud - in the old tradition - and people would ask for help in making sure they got all the details correct.  This is how human history was carried for millenia before we started writing (and re-interpreting it) for others.

Mnemosyne was a Titan.  Her mom was Gaia - the mother of all mothers - and her dad was Uranus. Here's her Wikipedia entry:

Mnemosyne (/nᵻˈmɒzᵻniː/ or /nᵻˈmɒsᵻni/; Greek: Μνημοσύνη, pronounced [mnɛːmosýːnɛː]), source of the word mnemonic,[2] was the personification of memory in Greek mythology. A Titanide, or Titaness, she was the daughter of the Titans Uranus and Gaia. Mnemosyne was the mother of the nine Muses, fathered by her nephew, Zeus:
Calliope (epic poetry)
Clio (history)
Euterpe (music)
Erato (lyric poetry)
Melpomene (tragedy)
Polyhymnia (hymns)
Terpsichore (dance)
Thalia (comedy)
Urania (astronomy)
In Hesiod's Theogony, kings and poets receive their powers of authoritative speech from their possession of Mnemosyne and their special relationship with the Muses.
Zeus and Mnemosyne slept together for nine consecutive nights, thus birthing the nine Muses. Mnemosyne also presided over a pool[3] in Hades, counterpart to the river Lethe, according to a series of 4th century BC Greek funerary inscriptions in dactylic hexameter. Dead souls drank from Lethe so they would not remember their past lives when reincarnated. Initiates were encouraged to drink from the river Mnemosyne when they died, instead of Lethe. These inscriptions may have been connected with Orphic poetry (see Zuntz, 1971).

Similarly, those who wished to consult the oracle of Trophonius in Boeotia were made to drink alternately from two springs called "Lethe" and "Mnemosyne." An analogous setup is described in the Myth of Er at the end of Plato's Republic."

Okay - there were two springs... one was "Lethe" which you drank TO FORGET ALL YOUR PREVIOUS LIFETIMES (before coming here).

It's the "drink" we take before we come to the planet.  On your way in, stop, get a slurp of Lethe, and voila - no memory of your previous lifetimes.

But on your way back?  Another pit stop, get a slurp of the Mnemosyne spring and voila - YOU REMEMBER ALL YOUR PREVIOUS LIFETIMES.

So - was Michael Newton trying to put a word onto my cellphone that related to his life's work?  That he actually was a version of Mnemosyne - helping us to remember our past lifetimes? That reading "Journey of Souls" "Destiny of Souls" "Life Between Lives" and "Memories of the Afterlife" was like taking a drink of the spring of Mnemosyne?

By the way, if you want to take that drink, I highly recommend visiting the Newton Institute website - they have trained hypnotherapists who have learned the technique from the master himself.  They have a searchable database to find someone trained near you.  I recommend getting reviews from others, and speaking to the therapist first, before you go in, to see and hear what might be in store for you on your adventure.

Scott's the fellow on the right

If you're in California, I highly recommend my pal SCOTT DE TAMBLE who is in Claremont, CA, whose website is "lightbetweenlives.com" - who I've filmed 35 adventures with, and every single one of those that I've filmed he's been able to take people not only into a past life, but into the life between lives. (And when someone did not go into the life between lives, it was explained by this person's spirit guide why that wasn't going to happen.) Here's Scott giving a lecture in May of Last Year.

Scott is a virtuoso.  Full stop.  If you're reading this sentence and you're considering going on a between life adventure and you have the means to get into his office, do it.  Bring a camera, film it, show it to your friends.  That's what I've been doing for the past 8 years. (Flipside is a small sampling of those sessions)

Here's a talk the three of us did together last year.

But back to this discussion of the Goddess of Memory - she is the mother of the 9 muses.  ("Spirit council" perhaps?  When people have a near death experience, or a guided meditation, or a hypnosis session, or some rare individuals who remember these events, say that they saw themselves "standing before a council.")

In Newton's work that council was between 6 and 12 individuals, and each member of the council represented some quality of learning that the person had achieved during their "successful" lifetime.  So, if asked "who is on your council and why are they there?" a person might answer "I see that person represents selflessness because I learned that profoundly during that lifetime, and there's one who represents music, and then there's another who represents courage..." etc.

(Note: I know this experience because I've had it myself, thanks to Scott.  "Rich, go back to a previous time you were in front of your council - count how many people are there.  Now go into the most recent trip to your council, is there anyone new there who you can identify?"  I clearly saw the "new council member" and described why she was suddenly in my circle of advisors.)

So maybe the person who first wrote the story of Mnemosyne was someone who met her on his or her council. And counted the other 9 folks in the room and identified who they were.  In the Goddess of Memory's case, she has Calliope (epic poetry), Clio (history), Euterpe (music), Erato (lyric poetry), Melpomene (tragedy), Polyhymnia (hymns),Terpsichore (dance), Thalia (comedy), Urania (astronomy).

Look at these various talents; Epic Poetry (narrative story telling), History, Music, Tragedy, Hymns (Music with spirituality), Dance, Comedy, Astronomy, and Lyric Poetry (songs with emotional or spiritual content that are sung.)  It may seem oddly foreign to us - but if we examine the time frame, let's say its 2500 years ago - we're talking about 25 hours ago. (I had one person describe ten minutes on the flipside like 25 years of here - if you do the math, 2500 years may be like 10,000 minutes - or ABOUT A WEEK on the flipside.  So perhaps not so hard to remember those who've gone before from that time frame.

I spoke with Scott and Jennifer about doing a joint project together.  And I think it's going to revolve around something like this - the three of us in a room with someone who is willing to do hypnotherapy, then speak to people on the flipside while I pepper them with questions, while Jennifer downloads, unpacks what they're experiencing.  How cool would that be?

One other note - the last time that Michael "showed up" while we were having lunch, he said that from his side, he was doing a version of "noetic science" about how people on the flipside could communicate with us back here. Neither I nor Jennifer knew what the term meant.

"Noetic science" refers to "In philosophy, noetics is a branch of metaphysical philosophy concerned with the study of mind as well as intellect. Noetic topics include the doctrine of the agent/patient intellect (Aristotle, Averroes) and the doctrine of the Divine Intellect (Plotinus)." wikipedia

The Institute of Noetic Sciences is The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) is an American non-profit parapsychological[1] research institute. It was co-founded in 1973 by former astronaut Edgar Mitchell,[2][3][4] along with investor Paul N. Temple, and others interested in purported paranormal phenomena,[1] in order to encourage and conduct research on noetic theory and human potentials.[6][7]
The institute conducts research on such topics such as spontaneous remission,[8][9] meditation,[8] consciousness, alternative healing practices, consciousness-based healthcare, spirituality, human potential, psychic abilities, psychokinesis[9] and survival of consciousness after bodily death.[10][11]

The institute maintains a free database, available on the Internet,[2] with citations to more than 6,500 articles about whether physical and mental health benefits might be connected to meditation and yoga.[8] Headquartered outside Petaluma, California, the organization is situated on a 200-acre (81 ha) campus that includes offices, a research laboratory and a retreat center (originally the campus of World College West).[12] Its current director is Cassandra Vieten."

I don't know much about the institute, but will check it out.

So the words of the day (from Michael Newton) are "noetic" and "mnemonic."

Worth thinking about.

And finally... I sent someone a copy of the film "Flipside" today to a grieving parent, someone whose loved-one checked off the planet, and reached out to let them know they were still around via a "medium."  I sent the film to show the background of my work in this area and added this note, which is my way of trying to express what it is that I'm doing.... and that I'm not trying to "sell anyone" on this information. It's tailored to those who have a compelling interest in the topic.  In case anyone was wondering;

"I'm a film guy, about ten years ago started a documentary because my close pal died and came to visit me. I was trying to figure out how that could be (saw her, we traveled together, etc). Took me awhile, but stumbled onto the work of Michael Newton (Journey of Souls) which led me to DOPS at UVA and near death experiences.  And I was seeing the same info coming from people under hypnosis, as well as people experiencing near death events.  Which then led me to the science behind esp (Gary Schwartz Phd, Mario Beauregard PhD, Dr. Sam Parnia, Dr. Bruce Greyson - all consciousness investigators) and finally to mediums.

And in my case, I worked with mediums that I knew of their work, and focused my attention on talking to one person on the flipside, through three different mediums to see if their reports were similar.  (in many cases identitical)

Not all mediums are the same, everyone is different as you know - but when you get a consensus of opinion, the architecture of the flipside becomes a little bit clearer. as I try to point out in my blog these reports appear to be tailored (by those on the flipside) to not upset the world order, or to alter someone's path - they're so specific that only the person hearing them would be convinced beyond a shadow of doubt that they're coming from their loved ones.

Others hearing the same info will remain unconvinced, skeptical - which is okay, because apparently we all choose our paths, and that may include a life in a closet... which is okay too, because "we're not in any hurry to get to the flipside."  Check it out - if it rings true to you, then (it's worth pursuing this research.)

My two cents.
