Backstage Pass to the Flipside: Talking to the Afterlife with Jennifer Shaffer is again #1 in its genre at Audible.

What if it was possible to speak to, interview, get new information from folks no longer on the planet?  How would that change our view of the planet?

Over the past three years, Jennifer and I have been doing just that - speaking to people no longer on the planet, hearing from THEIR POINT OF VIEW and asking them questions about how that works.

"Who was there to greet you when you crossed over?"  "How did you find us to be able to speak to us about your experience?"  "What do we look like to you?"  "If someone back on the planet wants to speak with you, how do they go about doing that?"

We asked and got answers.  And in many cases, I was able to demonstrate (from their children or loved ones) that what they had to say about them was accurate - that their advice from the Flipside was heard and was a way to realize their loved ones are not gone. Just not here.

There are two books in the series - book one and two - and in these books we talk to a number of folks that I knew (Bill Paxton, Harry Dean Stanton, Roger Ebert, Sydney Pollack, Robin Williams) and then there are people that Jennifer knew or met, as well as the people that Luana Anders (our guide on the flipside) who knew or met (Brando, Belushi, George Harrison and others).

I Shot An Arrow Into The Air

This poem came to mind as I was reading the most recent reviews from Audible.com for "Hacking the Afterlife."

Note: In my text and audio I try to introduce the reader to my world - it's a bit messy, cats meow in the background, there's a cacophony going on - it's not to say that there shouldn't be complete silence, perfect delivery whether playing a recital or reading a book aloud.  But those mistakes, those errors, leave an honesty and raw quality to the work, that while I could edit them out, redo them, fix them, some part of me wants to leave them alone. "It is what it is." It's part of the reason I'm so verbose - to show the surrounding information to this research and to demonstrate I'm not making this stuff up.  I'm not polishing it, because "everything that's raw has beauty" (said Luana Anders in "Flipside").  So I work hard at keeping it raw.  I don't know if anyone will care for it - read it - or appreciate it.  I offer it because I firmly believe that whoever needs to hear it will find it.

Would you consider the audio edition of Hacking the Afterlife to be better than the print version?
Maybe, I listened while reading the words in the Book. and the Material is very interesting and feels very true.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hacking the Afterlife?
Listening to the chapters on the Message from Planet Earth and the chapter on Issa. Issa's story is one I have always wondered about.

What about Richard Martini’s performance did you like?
I love the pizzazz that Richard adds to his readings of his books.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
It does not need one, because Richard has already supplied it.

Any additional comments?
Richard has topped his Flipside Series with Hacking The Afterlife. My favorite chapters was the chapter that had the message from Planet Earth and the long chapter about Issa. Everything I have read or listened to Richard's Audible Books are truly Awesome Research Material. I will be listening to this audio book several more times. I finished this book last night and started Richard's Flipside Series again this morning for about the 17th time. This material is truly awesome and consciousness awakening. I Love this information and it truly helps one love the people around one's self.

"Narration"

I didn't favor the style of narration. Throughout this audio book the narrator would repeat a word which interrupted the flow or rythum of the story, it was very distracting. However, the material of the book was of interest and rated the story 3+ stars.

(Duly noted. But like I say, refunds are good. I was delighted to see that 2 folks had gotten refunds for their Kindle version. It means they actually heeded my advice to get a refund for whatever reason. My style of delivery isn't for everyone, I tend to repeat what I just said. Let me say that again, I do repeat myself.)

"My cup of tea"

I thought it was going to be really hard getting past the obvious flaws in the narration and all the apologies that kept coming from the author about the content of his book. At first, indeed, it was difficult.
And then I just pretended Mr Martini was in front of a classroom reading from his journal. At that point I was able to focus on the content. This will not be a book for everyone and probably will infuriate more than a few. I allowed myself to be consumed by this and as ridiculous as it sounds (looks) I think this was life changing. I finished listening about 2 weeks ago and I still feel that way. I keep thinking about this book and have nestled it into my belief system where it might really do some good. Honestly, I have had some kind of soul-sigh - a release of stress I didn't know I had or didn't realize how big it was to me until this. It answered a lot of questions and raised quite a few. Even if I end up dismissing this as truth, it was a fabulous experience and a fun ride. I cannot say I am a true believer in all that is revealed. I am taking the coward's way out and saying it very well might be true. That's good enough for me right now. 
I recommend this book and have already told a couple of special people about it. Wow
  
(Thanks. Again, I'm just reporting what people say whether its under hypnosis, whether its through a medium or some other version of consciousness being altered.  I find that if you string those reports together, you get another view of reality.  Of course it's subjective - everyone is different - but it allows us to not stress "over the small stuff" in a big way. "Release of stress" is important, however we find it.)

If you are drawn to the idea that death of the soul does not exist, that we are all spiritual beings living physical lives on Earth, then I strongly recommend books written by Richard Martini. His wit, humor and research is both captivating and wise. 
Refreshing ideas and noteworthy for inquisitive minds and metaphysical adventurers.

Would you listen to Hacking the Afterlife again? Why?
I was one of those people who reviewed "Flipside: A Tourist’s Guide on How to Navigate the Afterlife" negatively because of the quality of the audio book and I have to say, I'm sorry. As an author who is also producing his own audio book, I now understand how difficult it is to get the work perfect. It's not easy.

Second, you were correct in stating that the work is more important than worrying about a cat's meow in the background.

I have to say that "Hacking the Afterlife" is pretty great. Keep it up.

Talk a little slower if you can. The words run into each other and the message gets garbled.

(I think this is pretty funny - when I read the audible reviews of "Flipside" one of the comments was "we can hear his cat in the background! C'mon!" To which I replied (in "Hacking") "My style is to include cats in the background..." and it turns out this fellow wrote it and responded. I appreciate it. My point was, the cat could have been saying "why are you talking into a microphone when you could be playing with me?" or "I concur with your assessment of the flipside humanoid." You never know. Ha. Note taken)

"Broadly researched, fun and educational"

This is a series of channelings/past life regressions and findings from research. The presentation is very casual - kind of like a podcast where there is only one person talking - but that's okay. The information is very interesting and covers a lot of territory.

This is well worth the price of an Audible credit if you are interested in reincarnation and enjoy reading books such as those by Michael Newton, Dr. Brian Weiss, the Erik Medhus books, Dolores Cannon, and more.

Lighthearted, yet parts of which are deeply researched, this audio book was informative, very interesting and enlightening."

Audio reviews for "Flipside" on Audible

Perusing the reviews for the audio version of "Flipside" - yes, it was me reading the book, yes, I do have a cat that meows from time to time, and yes, occassionally I do "P" or pop the sound.

But it's like the "Nechung Monks" CD I made in India.  You can hear birds chirping and people pouring tea. The floor boards creak.  The clock cuckoos - but you hear them in their temple, in their unvarnished truth... I have tried to eliminate all the clicks and pops, but at the end of the day you're going to hear me.  My voice.  Occasionally I choke up while reading these stories. But it's real.  Which, like the accounts in the book, are also real.

I made the cd "Nechung Monks" in this man's monastery - the State Oracle of Tibet

By the way, there is a film George, that you won't want to see - it's called "Flipside: A Journey into the Afterlife" and it's on Amazon and Gaiam TV.  And it also contains glitches, pops and what not.  I'm sorry Christopher that you feel I "pissed away" the opportunity for greatness... but hey, it's my path, I chose it.

Name dropping in Kashmir

I have a sneaking suspicion that people who make a living reading books might be writing these reviews... but if not, I apologize for not following the normal rules.  And now there are two new books to listen to my cat meow and me choke up over - "It's a Wonderful Afterlife: Further Adventures in the Flipside" volume one and two!!!!

Of course - there's always a refund.  I know that audible offers that option.  Either way, thanks for tuning in!!!

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story was great the book itself was well done, just the reader shouldn't read a 2 year old a bedtime story let alone an actual book. Guy really need to learn to read to people, he can read just not to anyone else. It takes a special type of actor to do books...that dude was terrible

(ha!  a special kind of actor! love that).

How could the performance have been better?

He should have hired a professional story teller. I don't mind hearing his cat meowing in the background, but I felt like he was cutting corners to save a buck.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Flipside?

People in the film business are always dropping names to bolster their credibility. For me, it does just the opposite. A solid script doesn't need to be over stuffed.

(I only drop names that I've worked with.  Even then when I drop the name I say "I'm going to drop the name now!"  But wait till the next book - more names are dropped than bombs over ... fill in the blank)

Any additional comments?

Aside from the reader being horrible? not really...People don't waste your money or credits on this version, buy it for your kindle or whatever you read on and do it yourself...You will be able to actually enjoy the story...You could tell between lip smackings the reader was board and didn't like the story. Seriously Audible if you guys put out another book that is read this bad I will drop this app...total waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you try another book from Richard Martini and/or Richard Martini?

I would recommend reading this book to ANYONE, but the manner in which it was read was very disheartening. I want to listen over and over, but it comes off as breathy, rushed and unprofessional. I'm wondering if it was done in a home studio and in one or two sessions. The words written required patience and flow and they come off like he was late for dinner or needed to do something else that was more important at the time.Overall, I would STILL suggest it, but damn... Just damn. I hate half-ass work.

It could have been professionally done, with patience and aptitude.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Damn... You were "this close" to greatness and pissed it away. Sorry, but Richard Martini also knows it's true. He has to.

(Dude, have you been talking to my spirit guide?  If you read "Flipside" there's actually an account of me saying the same thing to my spirit guide.. on camera and in the book!  "I just wish I had picked a soul with more talent." )

Meanwhile, so I don't have to wring my hands....

This book can stand on it's own as a book examining and sharing after life and in-between lives experiences.

Beautifully narrated by the author, I really enjoyed his descriptions of the photographs or illustrations that must be at the beginning of his chapters.

I would recommend this book to friends. The stories are interesting and give a person hope for what awaits all of us.

I could listen to this book all in one sitting. Richard Martini is an excellent story teller. Very natural style that I enjoy. Listening to his book is like sitting with a good friend and listening to him tell you stories. Well done.

Throughout the book he references to numerous situations that are substantiated with objective facts, and same facts from different therapists, authors, patients. I read Michael Newton's 3 books some 15 years ago, and respect his approach:- question and answer format, that requires tremendous work; detailed, comprehensive, unbiased, acute observation, with the benefit of doubt at hand.

Reading subjects like this, life after death, (including bible), requires our outmost Critical Thinking skills, Intuition, inner sense, insights and Mindfulness, keen observational skills; to separate the wheat from the chaff. And in my view, both Michael Newton's and Martini's work stand on solid ground. I give 5 stars. Thank you Richard Martini for your great work, and putting yourself through this ordeal.
