Oracles of Tibet and Manhattan Beach

I met with two Oracles this week.  One is from Manhattan Beach, the other is from Dharamsala.

She works with law enforcement agencies nationwide to help people find missing persons.  I've interviewed her extensively for the book "Hacking the Afterlife."  I can vouch for everything that's in the book with regard to observations she's made about the flipside.  I cite the evidence when she talks about things that she couldn't know, but I don't know, but later prove to be accurate.

You can find out more about her at JenniferShaffer.com - but sometimes we get together for lunch and when that happens, you never know who is going to show up.  As I noted here earlier, Michael Newton showed up last week - the man I made my documentary about. (see the post below) 

The reason I'm saying "he" showed up - instead of saying "someone who appeared to be Michael Newton" is because in his messages to me through Jennifer, he dealt with "new information."  That is information I didn't know that he knew, and later had to look up to confirm whether it was accurate. And it was.

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to see my old friend Thubten Ngodup, better known as the Medium of the State Oracle of Tibet, or informally as Kutenla.  I have interviewed him in the past, we met in the 90's and I produced a CD for the Nechung Monastery.

I met Kutenla long before I began this flipside research, but of course, it's all part of the same endeavors. 

 What's the difference between a Tibetan Oracle and a Manhattan Beach one?

Practice, practice, practice.

Basically Jennifer sees, hears, senses things as a medium that are related to the person who is sitting in front of her.  They may be relatives coming forth, friends who've passed, or just images coming from her spirit guides to help the person in front of her identify what they are trying to impart, or who they are trying to connect with.  

This can be an emotional experience, especially when someone comes through who has recently died, as my dear friend experienced a few weeks ago, when her brother came through and proved to his sister that not only was he still in existence, he'd been keeping an eye on her the entire time.

But in the case of the Tibetan Oracle - Oracles have a long history in Tibet.  They were typically someone in the village who had the ability to "see" into the future, and was consulted over crops and all kinds of things that people needed to know about.  Typically the Kuten would go into a trance, and then report whatever it was that he saw or heard.  Kutenla is the "chief" Oracle for Tibet - and advises them on any number of things, from his Holiness the Dalai Lama's travel schedule, to what location a hospital might be built, or what might or might not occur.

What's his and her rate of success with predicting the future?  Well, I can tell you that based on my research the future is not set.  So the ability to predict "likely outcomes" depends on a lot of things.  So if you're seeking out an oracle for a glimpse into the future, remember that it is not set, it is not locked down, and they can only tell you what they're feeling sensing or experiencing.

In the case of the Oracle of Tibet, he goes into a trance during his experience. He's completely unaware of what he's saying or doing, and he speaks in a 13th century dialect that only a few monks know, and can translate for him.  If you're familiar with flipside reports, you may consider that the 13th isn't really all that far away from this time and place - and being able to talk to someone who once was on the planet and is still accessible, is the basis of "Hacking the Afterlife."

I know that the previous Oracle saved the Dalai Lama's life when he escaped Tibet while under attack from the Chinese.  That event was reported in the film Kundun. There are many other instances where he has been completely accurate, and from what I've seen of his trance sessions, there is definitely something unusual going on during them.  His physical features change for the most part, his tongue turns black for example, and other abnormalities.  

I'm not making any claims here - my point remains the same - these things should be studied, examined, but when you add them to the work that I've been doing on the architecture of the afterlife, they aren't as odd as they seem.

So today over lunch, Jennifer and I were visited by a friend who died recently - and his daughter who died this past weekend.  Even though I was close to both of them I was able to ask some pretty specific questions to each of them about their experience.  She said she was experiencing "being like Peter Pan" without any strings, moving around.  In his case he seemed to be hanging out with friends and doing things he always did; golf, ride around in a boat.

Both of them gave me specific details so that I could impart them to their loved ones - in response to the question, "Is there anything you can tell me or show Jennifer that is so unique that your loved ones will know beyond a shadow of doubt that it's a message from you?"  They both gave me specific events, and when I report them to their loved ones, I'll report back here.

Then someone I knew briefly showed up and had some specific messages for a close family member about her friend.  I don't know the friend, I know of the friend, but the details were pretty specific, and I've passed them along.  I have no idea how they'll be taken upon hearing, because after all, when you've been a skeptic of all of things for so long, unless you experience them for yourself, it's very hard to accept or even hear them.

This fellow who spoke to Jennifer was a Cubs fan - and he said "We're all enjoying what's going on with the Cubs up here too."  Meaning that the success of our favorite teams doesn't die with us - it continues on.  How cool is that?

In response to Neil deGrasse Tyson's view of the afterlife...

Came across this interview yesterday: (actually the part on the afterlife begins at 2:22)




As my old Harvard/Oxford trained professor Julian Baird used to say "I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong."  Neil says "No one remembers what it was like before they were born."  That's not accurate.  

Michael Newton ("Journey of Souls") had over 7000 cases where people remembered not only "before they were born" by why they were born.  Dr. Helen Wambach ("Life Before Life") had over 2000 cases where people remember the same thing - why they chose to come here, why they chose their lifetimes.  Usually it's to "help someone else" or to "fulfill some kind of an agreement."  These memories are accessible to people, if only they look for them.  

 Just because someone doesn't "remember before they came to the planet" doesn't mean they can't remember it - nor does it mean that there isn't an experience prior to it. As Neil points out - everyone experiences a rainbow differently, why wouldn't everyone experience the afterlife in a different fashion? 

 Perhaps Neil might look to Giordano Bruno, and actually consider what Bruno experienced that caused him to be burned at the stake. Bruno claimed he'd had an "out of body experience" where he saw other galaxies.  His consciousness left his body and went for a trip around the galaxy - which he reported on, and was later killed for not denying it. 

 Just because others haven't had the same experience doesn't mean that others can't or don't have that experience. Insects can see UV light, humans cannot, but that doesn't mean that it's not there. 

People have near death experiencies where there is no oxygen to the brain, and yet they are fully conscious - for example, the man who came back to tease his doctor about the surgeon's "orange tennis shoes." 

 Why was that so unusual? The man had been blind from birth. Had never seen "the color orange" in this lifetime. If Dr. Tyson examines Dr. Sam Parnia's work, or Dr. Bruce Greyson's work at UVA, (or Mario Beauregard PhD, or Gary Schwartz PhD) he'll see that these scientists are arguing that consciousness is not confined to the brain.  (I refer to Dr Greyson's youtube talk "Is Consciousness Produced by the brain?")

 And if it is NOT confined to the brain, and if thousands of people can remember verifiable previous lifetimes, or in the case of my latest book "Hacking the Afterlife" are able to learn "new information" from people no longer on the planet - that is, information that cannot by cryptomnesia, hypoxia or any other reason - information that they could only have gotten from someone clearly not on the planet, but who can answer questions or give new details about their lives --- then it behooves us to examine this information as a scientist would.  Without prejudice.

At some point thousands of people saying the same things about the afterlife becomes a dataset from which to examine why that might be happening. It's not a belief, or a philsophy, or a religion - it's data. What does the data say? Well the data says consistently, and can be replicated, that we choose to come to the planet. And that when we're done with the play that we've performed, or the task we've accomplished, we make a conscious choice to "go home" (as all 35 people I've filmed under deep hypnosis have claimed.)

It behooves us to try to examine the research not with a preconception about the nature of what we want reality to be - but for what it is.  And when you examine these cases, people generally don't find themselves lying in bed thinking "oh gee, why do I need to get out of bed? What's the point if I've lived many lifetimes, and I'll experience many more?" In the research, we find people eager, anxious, happy to get up and help others. Anxious and excited and happy to come to this planet to experience life as we know it. And now that they're aware of it, have no fear about leaving it.

For fans of my work, you know that as of late, I've been actively reaching out to the flipside to hear any messages, especially ones that contain new information.  That is something I could not have known, or whomever I'm talking to could not have known prior to our speaking.  Information that cannot be ascribed to cryptomnesia (hearing it somewhere else subconsciously) or hypoxia (lack of oxygen caused hallucinations).

The point is to demonstrate that people who used to be on the planet have not disappeared, are not "ended" but continue to be accessible on the flipside, albeit in a different format.  That's the premise of "Hacking the Afterlife."

My work has brought me into the world of mediumship - it's not something that I sought out, but at some point realized that while most people seek out psychics or mediums to "predict their future," mediums or "intuitives" are also conduits to the flipside.  Or to put it more succinctly, their energetic structure is more aligned with the frequencies on the flipside, and therefore have a better capacity for communicating with people there.

An intuitive may see or feel or sense the answer to a question - may be given a visual, or may imagine a visual that answers the question.  One can argue that it doesn't matter "where" the answer comes from - if it's new information, then it proves that the information isn't coming from this realm.

Certainly there are people who can and should be taken with a grain of salt in this field - you don't have to put on a pyramid hat in order to examine the data - meaning that as long as the questions don't devolve into predictions or love interest, depending upon the person being asked the questions, they can gather verifiable information. (The reasons I mention the above caveats, is because by and large psychics are asked the two questions; "who is my soul mate?" or "what's going to happen to me?")  

My research shows that your soul mate will or won't show up in your lifetime based on an agreement you've already made with them (so no need to hunt them out) and that the future is not set (There appear to be "likely outcomes" that a medium may be able to accurately predict given a certain time frame, but since we have free will, anyone can screw up that likely outcome by changing their mind or plan at any time.)  So as long as we are asking "real time questions" to a medium, we can get answers from people who are currently no longer on the planet.

This past week I was on the Beyond Belief show with George Noory. Just prior I had lunch with Jennifer Shaffer, who appears in a number of chapters of Hacking the Afterlife.  

We were talking about a mundane topic when she said suddenly “Your friend, Michael Newton just showed up over your shoulder.”  I asked how he was doing on the other side and she said “He’s telling me that he came to visit you in a dream.”

At the moment, I didn't remember him showing up in a dream, but later my wife reminded me that the night after he died, she'd asked if he'd "shown up" and I had said "Yes, I asked him what his experience was like, and he said "different."  I didn't know if he meant different than he'd reported, or "just different" than it was before.

Taking the opportunity to ask someone questions who has shown up - even though we were in a noisy restaurant, I took out my cell phone and recorded the following conversation.

I asked him directly; "Hi Michael.  Tell me if your are encountering the “27 different realms that he had told me about.”  (During our interview in 2009, off camera, I'd asked him if during his own between life sessions, he's been to visit the five of six different realms I'd heard about, and he said "Oh, I've been to at least 27.")

She said; “He’s showing me five realms… and two underneath this one.” Then she said “He’s showing me that he’s taking notes.”

I turned my camera on.  It was a noisy restaurant, the transcript as close as I can muster:

RM: “Our question to Michael was… he just showed up spontaneously at our lunch in Manhattan Beach, “You’re taking notes on how to make it easier to communicate from over there to here, or from over here to there?”

Jennifer: “From where I am." He’s taking notes from there, as to help people here… to be able to communicate here…  it’s to help everyone here, work with their conscious mind. He showed me, like a veil, lifting.

"A veil lifting. So is your work helping them communicate better to us over here? Is that what you’re saying? Your life’s work?"

"Yes." He’s talking there, “Because we have everything here,” he says.

Rich: "So we have the ability to talk to them, he’s helping them to have the ability to communicate with us?"

"Right."

"On an energetic level?"

"Yes. A matching level."

After a couple of personal questions about friends in the Newton Institute, I asked:

Rich: "So why did you show up today? Did you show up to tell us (just) that?"

Jennifer: He says “No, I’m here because I’m taking notes.”

"On our conversation?"

“I’m in communication mode.” Yes. “It’s like noetic science but from the other side.”

(Note: “The Institute of Noetic Sciences describes noetic sciences as "how beliefs, thoughts, and intentions affect the physical world" (wiki) This is not a term or concept that I nor Jennifer was familiar with. I have heard of Noetic sciences, most likely through Dan Brown’s novel, but have never used them in a sentence before. So this concept is new information, both to me and Jennifer. Never heard of them, didn't know about them, not a clue. NEW INFORMATION.)

Rich: "Interesting. If there is any way I can help your work, let me know. I’m going on George Noory’s show this weekend “Beyond Belief.” I’m sure your name will come up. Anything you want me to pass along?"

Jennifer: (He says) Tell Richard everything he’s set out to do; he’s done, and then some - he’s surpassed what he planned or signed up for… and beyond that.

Rich: Oh. (flattered, trying to think of something funny, like “will I get an Oscar for that?”) Will I get a lottery number soon?"

Jennifer: "What good would that do?"

Rich: I understand. Very good. (laughter.)

Jennifer: (Laughs). I said to him “So help us along, (with a lottery ticket) and he said, “No, you just have to be and things will come to you.”

Rich: Michael, remind me; what was it that we talked about in my dream?

(Note: When I got home and told my wife Sherry about this conversation, she reminded me that the night after he died, I had a “conversation” with him in a semi-conscious state. Jennifer’s reminding me of it didn’t jog my memory until I spoke to my wife, who said “Remember? You said you spoke to him.”)

Rich: Let me ask you my friend, is there anything you want me to say on the show when your name comes up? Family, friends or people?

Jennifer: (He says) “Everybody can speak to the other side. And that no one does not - not have the capability to do so. Everyone should start, they should start bringing them in closer. He showed me like both of these dimensions, of which there are a gazillion, but he showed me the dimensions of it -- being like at a dinner table where you’re translucent to each other…  yet you still have the energy of other people (that are) with you (but you’re not consciously aware of).

Rich: So people should have a meditation on bringing your friends in, or at a dinner party, imagine your loved ones who are gone, are with you?

Jennifer: I suggested to him, like my idea of having a group called “wine and spirits” (Jennifer’s idea of bringing mediums together over wine and conversation) and he said (laughs) “Not with your group.”

Rich: So an example might be; at Thanksgiving, why not add other people to your table, those are the loved ones you’ve lost you’ve known or would like to know… 

Start talking to folks no longer on the planet. They can hear you.

Jennifer: (He says) "Yes." He just gave the best “Yes!”

Rich: A little bit like Elijah and the Jewish tradition. Put out a chair in case Elijah shows up.

Jennifer: "Yes."

Then Michael had a personal message for me about one of my kids and school.  It was not something that he was aware of while he was on the planet, I hadn't spoken to him via email in years, so how he might have been able to comment on that detail is beyond me. But the comment was very specific, as well as touching, and incredibly rewarding.  He spoke as if it was something he was completely aware of on the flipside, details that I had not shared with Jennifer. 

Another piece of "new information." He specifically told me how to deal with it, and his suggestion was brilliant. Again, he knew nothing of this while he was on the planet - he could only have observed it from his new place and time frame.

Then, as the check came:

Jennifer: (aside) Prince showed up at the end.

(Note: Prince, the musician, showed up at this same restaurant a few months prior, during another lunch. That conversation I filmed and included in “Hacking the Afterlife.”  We were just about to leave, but I said “We can’t not speak to Prince!” JENNIFER HAS NO RECOLLECTION OF THE FOLLOWING.)

Rich: Let’s talk to him. Hello Mr. Prince Rogers Nelson. Does Prince have anything he wants to say on the “Beyond Belief” show?

Jennifer: (He says) Tell him that it’s a “sound note...” he showed me the matrix… tell him “It’s a sound note.” 

(Note: Funny word play as well.  A musician giving us a “sound note.”  It’s a note, just the way Michael was taking notes, but it’s also a musical note, and a spiritual one as well.)

Rich: What’s that mean?

Jennifer: I don’t know. Hang on. (He says) “It’s not how you look, (I think he’s referring to my concern I had about how I “looked on the show” which I did not express to Jennifer, but was on my mind) It’s not what you say, (meaning it’s not the content of what I’m saying on the show) it’s how you vibrate in your awareness. Awareness of one another. In order… In your awareness of the accumulation… So like, he’s showing me that in your awareness, it’s a note – so if your frequency is clear, that’s how you attract someone."  

"Because when you’re in the consciousness of the higher level, where there is no hierarchy… and if you’re bouncing (broadcasting) on a certain level, then that gets through with more potency. When you’re bouncing on a lower level, its fragmented. If it’s fragmented, you’re not able to connect, which logically, you can’t connect -- he’s showing me “You don’t connect well when you’re out of mode of vibration” -- but when you’re not afraid of vibration, (and are able to resonate at a certain pitch) you’re able to then send it out and then receive that higher vibration… 

Rich: A bit like we were saying earlier, when you strike a chord, and all the guitars in a room start to vibrate at that same tone? You hit a note and all the guitars resonate on that same string?

Jennifer: (He says) "Yes."

Rich: So the idea being not higher or lower, but stronger?

Jennifer: (He says) "But not all the same – high frequencies can sound low."
  
Rich: I think he means, higher frequencies meaning from a higher place? Or stronger?

Jennifer: He just showed me this song I listen to “Every rose has its thorns.”

Rich: Higher meaning the place they’re coming from?

Jennifer: (He says) "Right. You can… but if you have a higher (stronger) frequency, you’ll still connect with the people that will come. It’s a matrix."

Rich: My question for you (Prince) .. since we last spoke in this same restaurant two months ago, what does that feel like to you in terms of time, comparatively?

Jennifer: He says “A millisecond – even less than that…” He just told me, “even less than that; it’s continuous.” So like he was here and it’s a continuous dialog. "It’s a continuous dialog with God. Like it’s one.. obviously…"-- He just showed me a goddess, but (it feels like) he’s kidding around with that. (looks at her watch)  I gotta go.

Rich: Prince, thanks for stopping by, we’ll have to get back to you!

In the book "Hacking the Afterlife" Prince makes the observation that he liked the fact that I tend to print verbatim what is said in a conversation.  I've left out the personal references in this missive, but all I can tell you is that we did not set out to "talk to" anyone - we were just hanging out at a local eatery when she noted that someone had shown up in our lunch.

Robin Williams and Prince both appeared during our previous lunch - we did not ask for them to appear - Robin makes an appearance in my book "It's a Wonderful Afterlife" and Prince made an appearance in "Hacking the Afterlife" - but at this point, I had not shown the book to Jennifer, nor mentioned that he was going to appear in the book.  So when he showed up during our conversation and spoke about his chapter in the book, it was "new information" for Jennifer.

The point is - we live in a multi-dimensional reality.  There's much more going on than we can possible imagine.  But we should take the time to look around and perceive it.

As a final note; last night I was talking to someone about a group he's associated with.  He said "They focus on healing the soul so that we no longer have to reincarnate."  I said "Why would we no longer want to incarnate?"  He said "Well, because it's difficult here."

I said, "Think about that for a moment.  What's here? People you love, things you love, trees, sunlight, cappuccinos.  This is heaven. This is the most wonderful place to be.  Back home - back on the flipside, that's a place of unconditional love. But it's all a mental energetic construct - as it is here, of course - but back there trees are not solid. They're squishy because they're focused energy.  Here, you can actually go out and hug a tree, taste a real cappuccino, have a really good slice of pizza."

I said "It reminds me of two instances where avatars showed their devotees the nature of reality. One was Buddha, the other Jesus - Buddha's monks asked "What's nirvana like?" and he put his finger to the Earth and "showed them."  The other was Jesus on the cross, and the two thieves said "What's heaven like?" and Jesus showed them.  

I suggest that both showed them what you're looking at right now. This screen. Your desk. Your handheld cell phone. 

Look up for a moment. Look around you. There's sunlight, you're sitting, you're laughing, you're looking around you. Look at all those happy people walking around you. They're here. They're actually on the planet with you. They're smiling because they know what you know.  This is paradise. This place. This is heaven.

Oh sure, there's a lot about heaven that's problematic - those people who choose to play difficult roles on stage, those people who choose to experience tragedy, or cause pain in others to help them, or help themselves experience the energy of it.. but aside from that... 

At some point all of us got a glimpse of heaven. Woke up and saw the sun shining in through a curtain, the warmth of its rays bringing us out of our slumber. We've breathed fresh air after a spring rain. Experienced the wet smell of leaves in a leaf pile. Felt the rush of diving into a clear pool of water. Experience the smell of mom's cooking luring us to a table, the feel of a dog's nose under your hand, insisting on getting some love. The purr of a cat lying on your chest, it's eyes closed. The song of a child's laughter.

Yes, we already are in heaven. 

We just can't see it.

Had a great time with George Noory on his "Beyond Belief" show.  If you'd like to view it, you need to subscribe to the Gaia TV site.  It's always a delight to talk to George, because he's so conversant with any topic.  We really can roam around a topic.

 I try to point out that I'm not selling a philosophy or a point of view - I'm not trying to join the ranks of New Age authors, nor am I trying to debunk any particular version of reality.  I have chosen an unusual topic of inquiry, which is what people say under deep hypnosis about the afterlife.

I've had a number of people write to me that it upsets them that I'm writing about this material.  I mean it's not ME that upsets them, but what I claim that people are saying consistently under deep hypnosis that upsets them.  I don't really have anything to say about that - because it's not ME doing the talking.  I'm doing the reporting.

So the first book; "Flipside: A Tourist's Guide on How to Navigate the Afterlife" is transcripts of what people say under deep hypnosis, as pioneered by the late Michael Newton.  I interview Michael, his last interview on the topic, and I have transcripts of a number of "between life" hypnotherapy sessions.  I filmed them and then transcribed them verbatim - so people could see for themselves whether or not the hypnotist was "leading" or "guiding" the people under hypnosis in any way.

I've filmed about 35 of these sessions so far, and have filmed myself doing five of them.  I found that filming myself doing a session was a way of being able to "prove or disprove" what people were saying.  My own experiences are unique to me - yet, there were a number of hallmarks that I experienced that others also report experiencing.

Which brings me to the second and third books in this series; "It's a Wonderful Afterlife: Further Adventures in the Flipside" Volumes One and Two.  I approached scientists to discuss the research, and when they pointed out that "hypnosis" wasn't considered science, I examined accounts that were considered science - those of near death experiencers.  
Further, I invited these people who'd had a near death experience to explore their event more fully via "between life hypnosis" and reported those in the second and third books.  

I also spoke to PhD's in the forefront of consciousness research, from Gary Schwartz PhD, Mario Beauregard PhD, to Dr. Bruce Greyson (UVA) and other scientists who are out front in the idea that consciousness is not only created by the brain, it may also exist outside of the brain. Again, not my philosophy, not my argument - it's theirs.  I'm just reporting it, and show how consistent these reports are with the others from the Flipside.

And finally we have "Hacking the Afterlife."  My latest book, which is about trying to ask questions to people on the Flipside, either through a medium, or through a fully conscious interview with someone who has experienced a mind altered event, or just by asking simple questions to people who have had no experience with the flipside - and yet they seem to be able to access past lives and a number of other issues.

The second and third part of the book is the research i've been doing for 30 years about the life and death of Amelia Earhart - I focused on the testimony of three different mediums who basically gave me the same information and answers from "Amelia" herself - all information that has never been published and is not part of the official or unofficial record of her life. All I can say is that in the book, she proves that she "still exists" on the Flipside.

And finally, the last third of the book is about Jesus.  Not the Catholic brain freeze religious person that makes us all sit up and take notice (or take offense) but someone on the Flipside who was consistently showing up in my interviews and research.  I ignored his appearing for the past 8 years or so - writing it off the oddness of the research, but at some point realized, he too was trying to communicate from the Flipside.  

Again, I didn't approach this information from the aspect of trying to promote a philosophy, or a way of thinking, or a way of behaving.  I reported it verbatim, as it happened, and allowed "him" or whatever version of him, or whoever this person showing up in different sessions could actually be.  I fully acknowledge I have no physical proof that it is him showing up in these sessions, however the consistency of the reports, and the consistency of reporting about events that may or may not have occurred 2000 years ago, many of which are not widely known, or have never been published or recounted before, forced me to include it in the book.



I did so with a certain amount of trepidation.  There are other people who show up in the book; Edgar Cayce, Robin Williams, Prince and a few friends of mine.  Again, I don't offer these conversations as "proof" of an afterlife, but I do offer them as a jumping off place for people to do their own research, do their own investigation, and come to their own conclusions.

And that's why George is having me on the show again - this time on November 4th.  Coast to Coast AM radio can be found across the US and globe, and we'll be talking about things that aren't normally talked about in the media.  I'm not selling my point of view, nor am I trying to convince anyone to accept what these people are saying consistently about the afterlife, or from the afterlife - all I can do is present them in the most honest way that I can, and report as best I can, all that I've seen or heard. It's up to everyone else to form their own conclusions.

Hacking the Flipside

It should be another fun adventure - George is one of the greatest interviewers of all time, I haven't a clue as to what he wants to talk about, but he's invited me onto his show.

As I've tried to tell him and his staff - I'm not selling or promoting the idea that people should read or buy "Hacking the Afterlife."  In fact I'm warning people NOT TO BUY THE BOOK.

Why?

Because it's not for everyone.  It's going to be disturbing to some people who don't want to hear what people say about the flipside.  It goes down paths that I've never gone down before, and it is what it is.

What's in the book?

Edgar Cayce

Oh, an interviewer with a channeler who claims to channel Edgar Cayce.  Why is this interesting? Because I ask Edgar why he was so wrong in his predictions of the future.  I also ask him who was supplying the information for his trance sessions - and his answers dovetail completely with the research in "Flipside" and "It's a Wonderful Afterlife."

I include interviews with three different mediums who claim to be able to access Amelia Earhart.  The first one came to me out of the blue - and told me information about her that I could not find in my extensive research into her life (for my own films, and later for the Fox film "Amelia") - the medium Pattie Canova gave me tips about secrets in her life that were not public.

Some years later, I supplied the questions to a medium who was going to interview her - and that was interesting, because neither the medium or the woman asking the questions (Dr. Medhus and Jamie Butler of "Channeling Erik" fame) knew anything about Earhart's life and death.  But I did.

During that interview, Amelia confirmed a number of the secrets about her - gave new information about them, but refused to answer a question about how she died.  She actually said "If the person who supplied these questions wants to ask me privately I'll tell him."  I missed that detail when I heard the session, but it wasn't until I transcribed it for the book that I became aware of the offer.

Out of the blue, medium Jennifer Shaffer (.com) who works with law enforcement on missing person cases (including the FBI and others that I've verified) called me, and on a lark I said "how'd you like to be involved with the most famous missing person case in history?"  Her interview with Amelia confirmed details I knew, but also gave me new information - which has proven to be accurate AFTER the session.  So Amelia gave me clues about her that no one on the planet knew... until now.

Finally, the last third of the book is examining the many reports I've gotten about Jesus still existing on the Flipside, still helping people during a near death experience, and showing up in all kinds of random places.  I decided to let that be part of this book because who am I to hide this information?

So that's why it's a controversial book.  That and I include interviews on the Flipside with Prince Rogers Nelson and Robin Williams.

I'm not talking to the dead.  I DON'T CLAIM TO SPEAK TO THE DEAD. Jennifer talks to Prince and Robin, but I supplied some of the questions.

I have no abilities in this area. I'm not a hypnotist. I'm not a medium. I'm not a scientist. But I know a few who are.

Robert Lanza on theory of Biocentrism

"We're still operating in an outdated paradigm." Lanza's book "Biocentrism" is groundbreaking, his theory underlines how consciousness is not confined to the brain. 



He doesn't explore the nature of non-reality (existing outside this realm or paradigm, which folks do in "Hacking the Afterlife") but he examines the "nature of reality" from a scientist's pov using quantum logic (which echoes Buddhist philosophy) 



Worth watching if you have 20 minutes to examine the nature of reality. He argues convincingly how the old model of how the universe works is outdated, how "something" outside our realm directs life ("Consciousness" or "God" or "The Enthropic Principal"). Part two appears next to it on youtube...

A giant has fallen... the passing of Michael Newton

As I'm fond of saying: "Not gone. Just not here."

In 2007 I contacted the Newton Institute about doing a documentary on the topic.  I was surprised that no one had considered doing one to date.  I wasn't entirely sure what was happening in the sessions, but I'd read his books "Journey of Souls" "Destiny of Souls" prior to the interview. And I guessed (correctly) that if I could film a "between life session" the camera would quickly reveal if there was anything about the interviews that were "leading" or could be based on "cryptomnesia." 

Basically Michael Newton wrote in his books that he'd had 7000 clients over 30 years say relatively the SAME THINGS about the afterlife during his hypnosis sessions. How could that be? I set out to find out if it could possibly be true. (My documentary "Flipside" goes into greater detail) 

Here's the original transcript of my interview with Michael Newton, published here in honor of his journey on the planet. When I asked about doing an interview with Michael, his office said no, that he was retired, but I was welcome to come to Chicago, meet him and film some of their teaching.

I flew into Chicago and showed up on their third or fourth day - they'd already done the preliminaries, and they were getting into the deeper teachings.  I met Michael prior to one of his sessions, he shook my hand and I think got the sense from me that I wasn't there to prove or disprove anything he'd written or said, that I was just trying to document the process so people could understand his technique. He said he would grant me "his last interview" (his words.)

INTERVIEW WITH DR. MICHAEL NEWTON

RichMartini: Is hypnosis a valid scientific tool?

Dr. Michael Newton. A lot of people don't feel it is. Hypnosis is a study of human behavior, adequate scientific proof depends on your willingness to accept self-reports from the mind as data. When someone is in deep hypnosis, it’s not something that can be programmed. Under hypnosis, people are very aware of who they are and have great insight into what they're telling you. Over thousands of cases there was consistency of reporting; it didn't matter whether a client had a deep religious belief system or not; once we had them in deep hypnosis, they all told us the same things.

What was your first past life regression?

I began practicing in 1956, a traditional psychotherapist using hypnosis to try to uncover childhood emotional and physical trauma. It was the year of the famous Bridey Murphy case - the Colorado housewife who remembered a previous life in Ireland. I’d get calls, "May I come for a past life regression?"  I’d say "No, I’m traditional, not involved with “new age” thinking." I was very naive, really. 

But then a client asked if I could see him about pain he was feeling in his side.  He'd been troubled since childhood, and doctors said it was psychosomatic - they'd done x-rays and could find no physical symptoms. They told him he should see a psychiatrist.  When he came, I couldn't find any earthly origins at all, so I gave him the command “Go to the origin of this pain.” 

Well, he jumped into the life of a soldier in World War I, when he was a British Sergeant and was being bayoneted. I couldn't believe it; this fellow was lying on the couch groaning while I was more interested in verifying if it was real – asking him the British unit he claimed to be with and a number of other facts - instead of desensitizing this horrible trauma he was going through. Eventually I did do that.  

He called a few days later to say "There's no more pain, thank you.” Well that didn’t satisfy me, so I contacted the British war office and the Imperial Museum in London to find out if this British Sergeant ever existed and sure enough he died in 1916.  From that case, I began taking past life clients. So I came kicking and screaming into this movement.  

Sometime later, a woman came to me, depressed over having no friends and couldn't seem to connect with anybody. I reached a point of frustration when I couldn't seem to find any help, so I said "Go to the origin of your loneliness, especially if there's a group of people around you."  I didn't know it, but “group” was a trigger word, because we exist between lives in soul groups - “cluster groups” we call them.  Her face lit up. She got tears in her eyes and pointed to my office wall and said "I see them all." 

I was thinking "Is she seeing them in this life? In a past life?" "Where are we?" I asked. "Oh," she said, "We're in the spirit world. I'm seeing all my soul companions, they're wonderful," and she began describing them. 

I probed more, took a lot of notes, and had a recording of the session. I found none of her soul companions in her life today and she was lonely because of it. After she left, I said to myself This can't be happening to me.  

I'm the world's worst cynic, skeptic, and past lives was enough of a jolt of cold water, and now this? I studied my notes and the tape for a long time, and then with other clients, I began exploring it more and more. Once I started, I couldn't stop. 

I closed my practice to all other forms of hypnotherapy and worked quietly and alone. I didn't go to hypnosis conferences, I didn't want to read metaphysical books, and I just wanted to do the research by myself. After twenty years I realized I should write a book, so I began collecting better case notes with an eye to writing "Journey of Souls." 


What was the reaction from colleagues or your wife when you came home with this information?

Frankly I didn't go public until the first book was published. I had a lot of criticism from my colleagues; "How dare you keep this information from us, you didn't get our input.” I said “I did not want to be influenced by your thoughts; I didn't want to introduce bias into my work.” 

My wife is a nurse trained in psychology, and she was, like myself; initially skeptical. I had to talk to somebody, and what better person than my soul mate, who didn't tell her friends, but quietly absorbed all this. Eventually she came to really believe in what I was doing. 

A TYPICAL SESSION  

Can you walk us through a typical Life between Life session?

People come in because there may be a relative who recently died, or emotional trauma from losing a child. This work is not to supplant therapy they should receive from a licensed trained professional; it’s intended to provide them with answers about their inner being. 

One of the things clients don't understand until they experience it is that there is a dual nature to all of us. We have our brain ego if you will, and we have a soul ego, and when they are combined it creates one personality and one lifetime. 

The first hour we pick a couple of childhood memories to get a sense of them recalling events earlier in this life, to prepare them to answer questions on a deeper level. Then we take them into their most immediate past life, because it's their most recent experience. It's very brief as it’s not intended to be a discourse on past lives. 

There are a number of past life therapists that don’t have a clue about Life between Lives therapies - they think it's grayish ‘limbo’ that has no significance. But we then cross from the death experience into the spirit world, into the afterlife; it's an interesting and exciting time for the client because they begin to really see their soul.

Friends, relatives or their spirit guide, usually both, come to greet them - when a client sees their immortal teacher for the first time they’re usually blown out of their minds. Some religious people think they see Jesus or Buddha or Mohammad coming towards them but they quickly realize, “Oh, no, no, no… this is my personal teacher who’s been with me since I was created as a soul.”

From there, we move to interesting aspects of the spirit world, perhaps soul groups which range from 3 to 25 souls, the average client has about 15. These are all friends, relatives, spouses, dear friends in this life and some clients are shocked by who’s there. There are other soul groups, nearby affiliated souls, that may play an important part in certain lives. There are reasons for that, and we try to explore it. 

From there, they typically go in front of a group of wise beings - some call them “The Elders” or “The Wisdom Makers” - wise beings who are a step or two above their guides. 

These are non-incarnating beings, they’re about as close to God as we get, and there’s usually a very interesting discourse. They may ask the patient “How do you think you did in your last life?” They’re very gentle people. 

An interesting thing happens when they’re ready to return in the next incarnation; there’s a life and body selection library where people choose different kinds of bodies and who they think they can work best with. Their elders and guides have a hand in their selection before they come forward into the next life. It’s a fascinating process. 

What’s key is there’s such order and discipline there and yet it’s a very compassionate loving relationship. It isn’t one that involves the kinds of things we see on Earth with a hierarchy of beings who lord over you and engender fear. 

There is infinite forgiveness and understanding there. We all make mistakes, some of them terrible, and that’s all forgiven once we cross over. 

When the clients wake up after one of these long sessions, some of them are crying and some of them are laughing, some of them can’t talk - and generally there’s just this “Wow. I can’t believe it.”  Trying to process what’s happened.


AFTERLIFE CLASSROOMS AND THE COUNCIL OF ELDERS

I’ve spoken with a few people who’ve referred to their own recurring dreams of being in a classroom somewhere in the Universe, some working with or without energy. Also, I’d like to know more about “The Elders.”

We get flashbacks from time to time that break through that amnesiac block, folks who’ve had no LBL experiences, and just ordinary people that don’t know about our work. Suddenly they’re in a classroom in their dreams and they think “Hmm. That’s a strange image; where’s that coming from?” 

Most of us between lives spend time in a spiritual classroom. They are usually described as buildings, a library, or the place where they meet their council looks like a beautiful domed structure and in some cases a temple. 

Of course, there aren’t buildings in the ethereal space between lives, but people free-associate or have flashbacks of buildings; “I’m in a classroom, I have people around me that I know, there’s a teacher…” 

Essentially we’re given instruction by a Specialist Soul in areas we may have a talent or affinity for.  They may be areas we’ll specialize in after our incarnations are over - when we will be helping others.  I often hear about an energy creating class where they’re working with raw energy to create certain things.

 I have the theory a lot of what we see on Earth in terms of plants and animals and geographics has been created by groups of advanced souls.  

When we visit the Elders, we talk about our lessons and what we might do differently in the future. We’re not standing before God or a Creator or a Source - But people describe feeling kind of a God like presence at these meetings. It’s hard for people to describe it; I need to speak to someone who’s not incarnating anymore to give me answers to that sort of thing. 

Once in a while I got a highly advanced client who was in their last series of incarnations, who’d open the door a little bit, and it’s beautiful to listen to. 


What kinds of questions would you like to know the answers to from this work?

When I get an advanced client in my chair, I feel sorry for them because I’m a relentless inquisitor. I’ve asked the question “What does it all mean?” with certain advanced clients. 

One thing I’ve learned is that we are only one of many universes. I’ve been able to hear about nine or ten dimensions, either parallel universes or universes that overlap in timelines, through patients.  (He later told me that he'd visited as many as 27 in his work.)

Once you leave Earth, of course, you’re not in linear time anymore, you’re in what we call ‘now time
 - which is past, present and future... that’s the best I can do on the question about creation - I wish I could tell you more.


QUANTUM PHYSICS AND THE AFTERLIFE

What do you think about the concept that photographs may be captured time?

It feeds into what we know about quantum physics - the Cherokee Indians believe no event in time is ever lost. I think from what I have discovered, nothing is ever lost; every moment of time represents particles of energy. 

It’s like a movie that’s being shown. That frame is there forever and can be recalled in the spirit world.  Souls are able to go back to any event in any past life and review it completely. 

This is one of things we do that is so valuable. When they’re in the spirit world, in a library or a classroom, they’re able to recall everything from their past; nothing ever dies and when you have past, present and future all conjoined into “now time” think of the advantage that brings to studying and reviewing what you’ve done and how you can make it better.  

There are possibilities and probabilities in the time continuum and there have been wonderful books about parallel universes, the “Holographic Universe” by Michael Talbot for example. 

It’s very much in synch with reports we get from clients who’ve never read the books, so I feel the knowledge we’re gaining now is greater than it’s ever been about our inner being and the forces behind our creation.

Why hasn’t this information been available earlier in our history? 

I think there are a couple of reasons.  We've never been so over-populated in history, with so many of us running in so many directions. Second, I think it's the pervasive use of drugs which has even reached our elementary schools - when someone is taking drugs to "escape from reality” it shuts down the soul. 

And maybe the powers that be decided it’s time to loosen up this amnesia bloc we all have when we come into this world so we're able to gain information that perhaps earlier was not really available.” 


INTERVIEW WITH PEGGY NEWTON

I spoke with Dr. Newton’s wife, Peggy. Michael told me his entire life he’d had a vision of meeting a woman dressed in a white uniform named Peggy. After he came out of the service, he saw an ad in a magazine that reminded him of his lifelong vision. 

A poor grad student on the G.I. Bill, he caught a bus and asked the driver to “Let me know when we are near the largest hospital in Phoenix.”  The driver let him off next to a dormitory, which was fortuitous as he thought it was the main entrance. 

When he walked inside and asked “Do you have a nurse named Peggy?” a woman brought her out to meet him.  He knew the moment he saw her she was the woman in his dreams, and they’ve been together ever since.


RM: How did you meet Michael?

Peggy Newton: I was a student nurse and he was in graduate school. He had this feeling about a woman with dark hair dressed in white he was supposed to meet named Peggy. Off he went looking for a dark haired Peggy in a white uniform; he maintains from the moment we met he knew I was going to be with him for this life. And had probably been with him for many lives.

Can you remember that day?

He came to our dorm and we had a charming house mother on duty. He said "I can’t remember her last name but I’m looking for a Peggy with dark hair." 

Then he told me this rather crazy story I won’t repeat, because it made no sense to me at the time, when I asked him to sit down and clarify why he was there. 

We wound up talking for four hours; I went upstairs and told my roommates I’d met the man I was going to marry. We’ve been married almost 51 years.

What was it like when he first came home to tell you about a past life regression?

I thought it was too bizarre. "Past lives?"  I had my medical scientific brain and I tended to put that to one side. I did think he might be ‘over the bend’ though, and worried about his sanity.  But then he played me the tapes. His clients’ tapes are private, so anything I heard never left me, but I realized these people were all saying the same things about the spirit world. 

Seeing the same things, saying the same things, how could that be if it wasn’t true? You just can’t take strangers through an experience where they relate stories that are all the same. I became a real believer at that point, and then I became a true fan.”
