As fans of my Flipside books know, I've been continuing to interview folks on the flipside each week. Jennifer Shaffer and I have two books "Backstage Pass to the Flipside: Talking to the Afterlife with Jennifer Shaffer" and two more coming out soon.
Occasionally, someone comes through with a message that he or she asks us to pass along.
A couple of weeks ago, I filmed a session with someone whose husband had killed himself some years ago. I invited his widow to a session, did not tell the medium (Jennifer Shaffer) who was coming to the session, so there was no possible way for her to know who we were going to be speaking with.
His widow came to her office, and we began filming what her husband wanted to say to her. He spoke of their children (Jennifer knew they had three) knew she had objects in her purse she had brought of his, knew there was an old photo of the two of them on her cellphone, knew that she had "spoken" with him on the drive up to the office, knew many specific details about his private life, had specific instructions for his children and his parents, as well as other key details that he's observed since he "crossed over."
It was thrilling as well as touching to hear him apologize profusely for leaving her side, when he had promised he would not.
But he had a brain disease, an issue that he described in detail that came from his professional career, and we spoke to him extensively about that (and passed along messages to those he wanted us to).
I'll be reporting more of that conversation in the future, but for now, just want to point out - "You can speak to your loved ones that are no longer here." It takes some patience, but this event proved to his wife that he still exists. (It might not prove it to anyone else, but that's not the point, is it?)
But the other day, as I was filming Jennifer in a session, she suddenly said "Nelson Mandela is here."
I pointed out to her that he had "stopped by briefly before" (she had forgotten) in another session years earlier.
I thought it a bit unusual, as he wasn't a topic of conversation, and he wasn't someone we had "asked to come forward." (When I do that, Jennifer has the uncanny ability to say "So and so is here" when an hour earlier, prior to meeting with her, I had asked for "so and so" to appear.) I never met the President of South Africa, and don't know anyone personally who did that I'm aware of.
I asked him what he wanted to tell us and why he was showing up in a restaurant in Manhattan Beach to do so.
She said "He's showing me you in my mind's eye, and he's saying that "You are correct in your writing when you say that it's important to save the planet."
(Note: I have been writing "One of the reasons I focus on this flipside research is that it proves we still exist after death, and people on the flipside claim we choose to incarnate. If it's true we choose to come back, then doesn't it make sense to leave behind fresh air, water and earth, if not for our children, but our own return?")
He told us "There is an imbalance."
He showed Jennifer the Amazon rainforest, she said she could see its vast lush, beauty and see animals in it - and he said "when there is an imbalance there, there is an imbalance here as well." Meaning that when all of the lives and plants and trees are destroyed here, they are disrupted from their cycles, from their journeys, and people "on the flipside" can feel it, are concerned about it as well.
I said "Well, how can we help sir? If it is possible for us to help, how can we do so?"
He said "Your books. They show people that it is possible to speak to their loved ones no longer on the planet, and by doing so, you're influencing us over here - to see that it is possible to continue the conversation with you."
(Note: I've written about how our "class" - that is people who are no longer on the planet show up to "speak to us" and they have to go through a process of "lowering their consciousness" or "lowering their frequency" in order to speak with us, and we have to go through a process of "raising our frequency" in order to speak with them - and meet them "in the middle." And when he says "Your books" I know he doesn't mean "me" Rich - he means what's in them, that people consistently demonstrate our loved ones are "not gone. They're just not here.")
That has been a topic we've often discussed, and I've heard it from a variety of sources, not just Jennifer, but others who "access" this same kind of information (sometimes under hypnosis, and often not under hypnosis at all.)
I asked him for some concept that I could pass along on his behalf.
He said "Green. Peace."
I asked "You mean the entitity, Greenpeace, or do you mean the concept?" He said "The concept. Green. Peace." (Note: That doesn't mean he didn't mean the organization - perhaps he did, but this is what Jennifer got from him).
The idea that by being green, or ecologically aware, brings peace.
Well, allow me to let him speak in his own "words" (as repeated by Jennifer Shaffer, a renowned medium who works with law enforcement nationwide on missing person cases):

Rich: So Nelson Mandela is here? Okay. Why has he shown up?
Jennifer: He’s showing me you – in my mind’s
eye, saying “You’re correct about the planet. There’s layers of it." I see
layers (gestures with her hand) going down at once (from above to below).
What do you mean by that, sir?
"They’re helping the planet from up there like we’re
trying to help it from (down) here."
So the layers are - you guys helping from above and trying to help us from below?
He’s showing me like a room full of people on cell phones
not paying attention.
What’s a way for us to break through that? How do we get them to pay attention?
“Your books.”
What can I say to them that will help?
“Science.”
(Note: Not sure if he means the science behind consciousness studies done at UVA, how the brain is more like a receiver than a creator of content, how the brain has filters that prevent us from accessing etheric or energetic information... or if he means "it's science dummy" as in "climate science.")
What can we say on your behalf, in your words, that will convince people this is you speaking?
Jennifer aside: I hope I’m getting this right; “Peace is when the Amazon
forest is full of life.”
Okay.
He says it again; “Full of life.” He’s showing me all the trees, all the
animals. “When we take away the Amazon we take away the peace of the two
different kingdoms – (gestures up and below) between man and nature - and it makes it so unbalanced
that things start happening (natural disasters) like a shark attack, things
getting disrupted.”
What can we do to get people to pay attention to the
planet in a different fashion?
He’s showing me you on a picket line with a sign.
What’s the sign say?
Green peace.
Two words or one word? Greenpeace is an entity.
“No. Two.”
So two words “Green Peace.” We need your help reaching
out to people; who should we reach out to? which of your friends would be
receptive to your message?
(Jennifer aside) This is so weird. I’m not going to judge
it. He’s showing me Puerto Rico. I’m thinking “Why Puerto
Rico?” I don’t know.
Hold on – let’s break it down – I asked “Which of your
friends.. and you showed her Puerto Rico; does that mean Lin-Manuel Miranda?
“Yes.”
I get it.
(Jennifer aside:) I don’t know how.
He put it your head, it went to my head; Lin is from Puerto
Rico, he was recently there with "Hamilton." I asked who, and he showed you the place, and he's the first person that came to mind. May I ask, are you saying he should do a play
about you?
He says “It’s already in the works.”
(Note: Perhaps it is, perhaps Lin is not aware of it at this moment and later will be. We hear these answers often, that don't seem true at the time, then turn out to be accurate later on. Only Lin-Manuel Miranda will know if this is accurate or whoever is writing a musical about Mandela and wants Lin-Manuel to participate.)
Okay, that’s someone we should reach out to... so you want me to
tell him “We were speaking to Nelson Mandela and he told me to reach out to you
and tell you there’s a play you’re going to do about him?” Will that convince
him that this is actually you speaking...? And the message you want us to pass
along is that you wan him to help save the planet through Green Peace.”
“Yes.”
(Note: I've been doing this a lot with Jennifer, about four years now. I know when someone asks us to do something, that doesn't mean the person that is supposed to hear it actually will - or even comprehend. It may be a year from now, someone passes this post on to them - "Did you know some nutball said Nelson Mandela had a message for you?" My job here isn't to parse what she's getting - she repeatedly says it may be misinterpretation - that happens - but our job is to pass it along. Saving the planet is important information wherever it comes from.)
Okay, who else?
“Sting.”
Do you know Sting, Mr. Mandela? Did you meet him?
He showed me Sting and Bono – I think he’s saying “They’ve
thought about what’s going on in terms of the Amazon.”
(Note: In 1988 Sting did a concert that is credited with helping Free Nelson Mandela. http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/06/showbiz/south-africa-mandela-protest-song/index.html - Bono and Nelson were friends as well. I met Sting when I reviewed one of his shows for Variety, and he couldn't have been more gracious.)

What message to Sting could I pass along that he would know is coming from you?
"That he spoke to him recently."
Since crossing over?
“Yes.”
In a dream? Or how?
Just like this – us talking. "He was getting a message."
(Note: That could mean Sting was speaking to a medium or a friend who said "I don't know why I'm seeing Nelson Mandela" or it could be that Sting was meditating (hello Tantra!) and heard him directly, the way Jennifer does. I have no clue, but it's the first time anyone on the flipside has said "Just like we are talking. I talked to him." So that's unusual.)
So Sting heard a message from you recently?
He showed me "Everyone getting the same message at the
same time..."
Okay, so everyone is getting this same message we are? I’ll do my best to reach
out to Bono and Sting. Hearing a stranger tell you that you got a message from the flipside is an odd confirmation of that detail.
He’s showing me cleaning up the oceans, how dense the salt
is in the ocean, we should be cleaning that up. "Making clean energy."

So your top three pals I should reach out to are Bono, Sting and Lin-Manuel Miranda?
Yes. He says “They’re all getting messages, they’re
planning it everywhere, they’re all getting the same message.”

So what’s the best way for others to participate and help?
“Think tanks. Like minded groups.”
What about President Obama? Should I reach out to him?
(Shakes her head). He’s showing me there’s almost no way
to get through.
(Note: If this was some kind of cheerleading message, he would have said "Sure, him too!" but did not. I find it interesting when the answers are contrary to why I might imagine. "Should we contact President Obama?" was answered "Not possible. But maybe later.")
Well Nelson’s a big name – if we can get the message
through to him; he’ll get it. Not from me, but from someone else.
"He’ll come in later."
What about your pal Oprah?
I was shown an image of Oprah and her dogs; super
happy... that kind of pure happiness. "Yes, absolutely; reach out to her."
(Note: The people who are aware of this work, aware of
Jennifer’s work – the ones who have experienced speaking to their loved ones on
the flipside directly know we’re not making this up. And for the ones who will ridicule
it, it doesn't matter. I get what he's saying; this is an “all hands on deck, we’re in danger of losing our planet, of losing
why we incarnate here in the first place” kind of thing, and he's doing his part to pass that along to anyone who could hear him – to pass along that everyone who loved you still exists, and that it’s important to try and
save our planet.)
May I ask you some of
our mundane questions about your journey, Mr. Mandela? Who was there to greet you
when you crossed over?
His mother.
Okay, who are you hanging out with now?
He showed me some of the members of our class. He’s

We’ve had quite a gathering of people in our class, from Abe Lincoln to Martin Luther king... What do you think about what we’re
doing, this connection to our class on the flipside?
“Amazing.” He said it again; “Amazing.” He showed me Morton, (Michael Newton) how they’re (on the flipside) learning how
to talk to people here and we’re in turn getting people to open up their minds
so they can do it.
(Note: One of the first people to “come through” with my
conversations with Jennifer was Michael Newton, whom she called “Morton” (and
since then refers to himself that way.) Michael told us he’s helping people “on
the other side” to communicate, helping to show them how to do so by “lowering
their frequency.” He said he was "helping people over there to communicate with people over here.")
I was thinking of friends of mine who are from South Africa
who might help you...
"You should talk to them, definitely."
What do you miss about being on the planet?
He’s showing me tangible (things).. touching – “Holding people. The
sand in my toes. The feeling of people – Hugging. Physical touch, water between
my feet, sand at the beach, clean water."
I can almost hear you saying “clean water” with your elegant accent. Are you planning on coming back
soon?
He says "Part of him is already (back) here."
Where?
“The Amazon."
As a male or female?
A male – he showed me a guy with a spear – I asked “Like are you spearing fish?” He said "No."
Do you mean like an indigenous native?
“Yes. That’s it.”
What country?
“Peru.”
Why did you choose that lifetime?
“I wanted to feel the dirt.” What he’s saying is that he
can feel all what this person is feeling, so he’s understanding first hand that
there’s no fish (anymore), the animals are dying in the forest.
What percentage of your energy is in this guy?
“Thirty.”
(Note: Michael Newton would ask people “how much or your
conscious energy was in your lifetime?” as they recalled a previous
lifetime. I noticed that the number was
usually between 20 and 40% or “about a third” or our conscious energy. In the 50 sessions I've filmed, people say "about a third" and that two thirds of their conscious energy is always "back
home.")
He’s showing me “It feels like 100% of his energy to the
person that he is incarnated in, but that person is not aware of it.. maybe like
10% is aware."
Is he aware in his dreams? Does he sometimes recall your
life?
“Yes.”
Which does he remember more of; the pain or the later
adulation?
He showed me a flag – he’s telling me "That’s a symbol of
being free."
So in a dream he might remember being you?
“No, he doesn’t see him, but he comes through in a
different way...” (Jennifer aside) I just saw something... I was just shown
that in the dream state we get to go within our soul group to experience other
versions of ourselves; we get to see through their eyes what they’re doing.
Actually, I was writing about this morning.
(Jennifer, shocked but not shocked) Really?
I was writing about how we spend a third of our lives
asleep – and it occurred me that cats sleep 14 to 18 hours a day – nature doesn’t
make mistakes, so why would nature create a creature that sleeps 2/3rds of its
life? Unless somehow we have it reversed; that while we are asleep, our etheric
bodies are doing all kinds of things.
“Correct.”
We sleep a third of our lives, we have other activities
while we are asleep. Is that what you’re saying?
“Yes. Nature doesn’t make mistakes; we do.”
Any last words for us?
(Holds up two fingers.)
Peace?
"Green peace."

The more and more the sessions that we do, either with Jennifer or while speaking to someone directly who is accessing the flipside, they say the same things about "altering consciousness so that we can speak to our loved ones."
Apparently it's not for nostalgia's sake - it's to let us know that the path we are on is unsustainable. That if we don't want to come back to the planet, fine, eat all the meat you want - but if you can realize that you chose to come to the planet, that you chose to be here, then you're taking away that choice in the future if we don't fix the planet now.
Now you know.
